Ship tip

If you want to be informed about what is going on the word, FORGET it. They only have Fox "News" and not sport channel. I understand that for the kind of passengers, it may be OK, but you should be able to chose.

I wear black pants and a dressier top and sparkly jewelry on formal nights. Husband refuses to take a suit on vacation. He wears dress pants, sport coat and no tie. They don't say anything to him, so guess it's ok. I'm gonna have him pack dress shirt and tie next time, bit no jacket. He always takes it off as soon as we sit down anyway. We do anytime dining also.

you will see both...very nice & very formal on formal nights...European cruises seem to lean more to the formal side...Sorry but cannot give you a more precise answer as alott of it will depend on passenger crowd...as far as specialty restaurants on formal nights it is not required to wear formal but you will see some that do...for me personally, I like getting all dressed up on most formal nights but some I am just not into it but still want to eat in the dining room so I throw on my black palazzo pant & a sparkly top and off I go...for the buffet, pretty much whatever you are comfortable in as long as you are respectfully dressed...meaning no bathing suits or pajamas...lol I personally don't care what others wear...it's their vacation too. Caribbean /Alaskan cruises tend to be less formal, at lease from what we have witnessed in 16 cruises... whatever you wear, just remember to not sweat the small stuff & ENJOY !

We are going on a cruise in a couple of weeks on the Emerald Princess. I have been getting some ambiguous information as far as dress codes during the evening. We have anytime dining. On formal nights is the dress really "formal", or just  really nice? What is the difference on those between the regular dining room and the other restaurants/buffet?  I know what the actual but he recommends, but online I've been saying many people saying that it is much more casual…

not criticizing but I am sure you were glad on your boarding day that they have everyone off the ship by 10:30....they can't start boarding for the next cruise until all passengers are off and the ship is "zeroed" along with having to get the staterooms ready for the boarding passengers... That is one of the great things abou5 Princess vs some of the other lines...your cabin is ready when you board...some others you have to wait until 1to 2pm to drop your carry-on's The Emerald is one of our favorite ships & can't wait to be back aboard this December😉

Thanks for posting your first review here on this Website.  It is too bad that this cruise was not up to your expectations.  The ships need passengers to leave by 10:30 so that they can get the ship ready for the next cruise.  Most cruise lines do this.  I hope that your next cruise is a better fit for you.
