Review summary

Overall it was a pleasant cruise. It was my mum and bro’s first and my second cruise. There were many activities to do and I wasn’t able to do it all. The timing of shows and activities were very close in some cases so I ended up missing things. I made sure to get a massage but the deal was only good on embarkation day so it threw off my plans to see the Golden Mickeys and finish dinner at Tiana’s. But I did tell my server first thing so he knew I needed to get to the spa at 7pm (we had early seating at 545pm) which he super appreciated and I was able to get everything except the dessert (which he arranged for my family to take back to the room but my mum didn’t realize it and ate my beneigts). Service was impeccable, they don’t joke when people say Disney Cruiseline has the best customer service…I can see that compared to my other cruise I took in May on another cruise line.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth sailing from checking luggage and going through the various check points on embarking. No waiting to get on the ship, a walk on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was great but some different items like the chicken at Tritons (dry), pasta pursettes (needed more seasoning/salt - bland), and tuna steak with veggie “pesto” (missing some kind of seasoning) needed some flavoring help. We wouldn’t have to ask our servers for a new meal because the kitchen can’t make flavorful dishes.

Cove Cafe

5 out of 5

Peaceful, quiet, relaxing. Would have like to spend more time on there but just so much to do on the ship. Only negative…I just didn’t like how the fumes from the smoking section wafted nearby when outside, it was terrible.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
So many activities! I missed multiple events though because I didn’t realize they were going on or the timing was too close together between the assigned dining times and shows.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows are top notch!

Funnel Vision

5 out of 5

Screen quality was great and I could see it clearly both during the day and at night. We’ll done!

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone we interacted with were helpful and always had smiles on their faces.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was impeccable but there was one instance of one of the bathrooms either overflowed or someone spilled something that the stall floor was wet and slippery. The toilet also didn’t flush well (thankfully there’s a brush next to the stall so I could use it to clear out the toilet paper). I did let a crew member know once I found one and she was on it pronto.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Very clean, felt new. The tub sits a lil higher than the floor so be cautious getting in and out. The only ding is how close the bed is to the wall so when going around it I kept banging my knee, you have to turn sideways and be cognizant of the wooden bed frame.

Ship tip

Make sure to look closely at the schedule. The theme days aren’t highlighted at the top. By the time I realized it was Halloween night it was too late to go to the Mouseqerade Party. I thought it was on the Sea Day not on the first port day. If Disney just put the theme of the day at the top with the port info it’d make it a lot clearer. As it was for me I couldn’t tell until I saw that there were multiple theme parties/activities.

Ports of call

San Diego, California

Catalina Island, California

Ate at The Pancake Cottage and did some shopping.

Ensenada, Mexico Did not visit port

Didn’t want to get off, wanted to spend time on the ship with all the various activities.

Disembarkation

Even though there was an explanation in that app there wasn’t any specification on timing. I needed timing to let me uncle know when you come pick us up at the port and I didn’t have a specific time. We did call guest services and they eventually gave is an estimate of 9 am for our boarding group but we were off a bit sooner but we didn’t mind waiting a bit for our ride.
