Review summary

My 5 year old daughter and I had a fun time on our first Disney cruise. Unfortunately she got an ear infection on the trip, so we visited the ship's doctor for some antibiotics. I will say the Health Center was very clean, organized and the staff was great--especially with a sick child! The rest of the cruise was fun. Will do it again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Disney has their own port terminal, which made check in much easier. The terminal was clean, had lots of seats and a few characters showed up during our wait to board the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate in the main dining room 2 of the 4 nights on the cruise. Both experiences were good; the wait staff was friendly, attentive and very helpful. The food was good--not great. I've had better food on other cruise lines. However, the food at the buffets were excellent. The lines went fast, the buffet areas were very clean, always stocked with fresh and/or hot food, and the food itself was really good!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The best part of the Disney Wonder is the kids zone (Oceaneer Club). My 5 year old daughter, who normally does not like to go to the kid zones on cruise ships, LOVED IT! In addition, seeing all the characters on board was a nice perk of the Disney cruise. There were three pools (adult only, main pool and kiddie pool). I wish the sports zone had more to do. They only had a small one-basket basketball court, two Ping-Pong tables and two foozball tables. There were also movies playing and other activities to do on the ship.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We only saw the show the first night of the cruise. My daughter complained it was "too loud" and started crying, so we didn't go back. That was really disappointing to me b/c I liked the show. And knowing Disney, I'm sure the rest of the shows during the cruise were great.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
LOVED it! She normally does not go to the kids zone on other cruise ships, but on the Disney Wonder I couldn't keep her out of it.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward was great. Very friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
One of the most memorable parts of this cruise was how clean the ship was. All areas....restaurants, buffets, public bathrooms, decks....you name it. There was always someone near by to pick up, clean up or polish. And at port the crew was quickly put to work getting the ship clean both inside and out--literally.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had a Veranda balcony ocean-view room. It was nice and very comparable to rooms on other cruise ships.

Ship tip

Take advantage of the meals at night, especially Animator's Pallate. Very cool.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
It was a port. Didn't see the city except for the port area.

Nassau, Bahamas

We did a private excursion to Atlantis to do the waterslides and adventure pools.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
My daughter and I both loved this port. It was like being at Disney World as soon as you stepped off the ship. Very clean, well manicured, tons of empty beach chairs and umbrellas, good food, fun music, beautiful water. LOVED IT!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Completely painless! I did the onboard airline check-in, so I put my luggage outside my room the night before and claimed it at the airport. Received my airline tickets in my room and only had to go through security at the airport. Disembarking off the ship was a breeze. Got off the ship, made my way to the Disney Express (bus) which took us directly to the airport. That was the way to go.
