Review summary

Steps should be taken for guests that have carriages (presumably your target market).  One elevator should be designated as carriage/handicap only.  Maybe if we departed from a different port the general public would have the curiosity or common sense to let those carriage guests on the elevator.  Also posting a sign suggesting that capable people (perhaps overweight but physically capable) to try the stairs when they only need to travel one or two decks.  Maybe place candies or chocolates halfway up each stairwell as an incentive to take the stairs.

Another suggestion regarding the language barrier (even through we departed from a US Territory where English is the official language); would be to have those guests needing translation during the loud announcements to muster in a specific location or to have staff in several areas throughout the vessel translating.

Other than that, the kids loved seeing Mickey.

I don’t agree with anything you said, except what you said about crew with accents. I was on a Disney cruise last month and I did find it hard to understand some announcements. I dint think anyone should like lose their job, rather just have someone with better English do the announcements

Happy tourist USA... Please, please don't be discouraged at all....the original poster is some loser that cannot be pleased.  As my previous comment states.  This person found all that to complain about on a 3 day trip... It's ridiculous and ludicris.  Enjoy your trip despite of your disabilities.   Out of 4000 people on a trip you will have a small percentage of what we call whiners.  Boo Hoo for them

I love it when cheap whiners have a lousy time.  Hopefully they will never cruise again.. Have a great time!

I read this in earnest because I'm going on the Disney Wonder in the future. Its my first cruise. I'm an overweight person with an "invisible disease". Invisible diseases include Lupus, Sjögren's, Polymyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis sufferers, there are many of us. We are judged harshly. You have no idea how much pain we live in. The prednisone and/or other medications we take causes the weight gain, not your "second trip to the buffet" theory. No one wants to be obese, trust me. I would LOVE to climb stairs. To your judgemental eye there's no reason why I can't. But my body won't cooperate.  I speak in a weak hoarse voice because the disease has robbed me of mine. So heckle or complain about accents or dialects all you want. I looked at your call name, 25th Marines. The Marines that I know protect and serve. That don't improperly judge and condemn. Now I'm afraid to go on that cruise that I saved up so diligently for such a long, long time. I was afraid my body couldn't hold up and the disease would ruin my trip, now I'm afraid of people like you.

Those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones?  When you speak of courtesy and then make statements like putting chocolates or candy on the stairs as incentive to use them for overweight people does not speak of said courtesy.  Unfortunately, when people are on vacation, they become oblivious, at times, to said manners and customs that "Our mamma" taught us.  If that ruined your vacation, I am sorry to hear that.  For myself, it would be a passing grumble and then let it go.

Just my thoughts.  Happy sailing!

I have been on 5 Disney Cruises so far and will be Celebrating our 25th Anniversary next year on another Disney cruise. I have also been on a Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise and I must say, every experience we had we would compare to DCL and hands down, DCL is tops. Now to comment on your experiences. Every cruise ship has lines of people waiting to use the elevators at peak times. Would giant handicap and baby carriage signs be posted on the doors to some number of elevators at each bank. How many? Should we reserve 20 or 30% just for their use? Perhaps a staff member could monitor people entering the elevators and give fines to those that use the wrong elevator. Perhaps they don't get to go back for seconds at the buffet? With the "language barrier" you describe, perhaps DCL should make english the official language and expect all passengers and crew only use the English language. If an Australian, Irish, or even a southerner from the deep south were to speak english with a heavy accent, should they be penalized? I know you were so inconvenienced by hearing ships instructions in other languages, perhaps they should segregate the ship, put all non English speakers on separate decks so that nobody is exposed to a different language. Have them use a different muster station also, don't want any confusion. I'm sure that if you were travel on a cruise ship based out of a non english speaking country, you would be more than happy to either not comprehend the muster instructions, or if offered in english, to travel the furthest point of the ship, on possibly the lowest deck. If that's what you want DCL to do, then its ok for, lets say an all Italian cruise to to do that to you. In the real world, common sense and courtesy goes a long way. Some people will wait and allow those who cant use the stairs to go first, while others dont care and only think of themselves. Expecting exclusivity of english being spoken on a ship where probably 80% of the crew speaks a primary language other than english is being selfish. Cruise ships are open to all nationalities, religions, and lifestyles. If you have an issue with this, perhaps being on a cruise ship isn't best for you.
