We recently sailed on the Disney Magic with a mixture of children (ages 7 and 10), parents and grandparents. Overall the experience was a good for a family vacation. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Overall, it was a good first time Disney Cruise experience. There was a good balance of activities for kids and adults and the times were well spaced.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Overall\, the food was ok. On Pirate Night\, it quoted some Caribbean dishes that were misleading as they were not really the true Caribbean dishes. Being a Caribbean person\, it was disheartening to experience the misrepresentation. The children's menu was limited and repetitive.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
This was ok\, but could have been more stimulating. The magician and juggler were good. The evening music was limited. The teens had later activities than the adults.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
There needs to be more for the kids 10-12 to do. Also\, my son was disappointed with the Oceaneer Lab as there were too many kids and not enough activities. I wasn't overly impressed with the staff either.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was outstanding\, especially the dining room staff\, Cyprian and Meisa especially!
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship had recent refurbishments and it seemed to still be finalizing some on the sailing. They stated it was full\, but it wasn't really and there were workmen to be seen on certain decks. There were maintenance challenges with the elevators which were resolved in short time. I found the pools too small for the amount of kids and parents despite it not being a full ship. That was disappointing.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
I enjoyed my oceanview room. But\, the closet doors need to be able to lock\, especially in bad weather as they rolled all night with the ship in inclement weather. The staff did monitor any problems and resolved before I even noticed some of them.
Pros: The day on Castaway Cay; courteous\, responsive staff
Cons: Cozumel was disappointing\, kids pool size was too small. Children's dinner menu was repetitive and limited.
