Review summary

I appreciate long, detailed reviews, but this is the nutshell version - this was the absolutely best vacation I had with my children! They are all adults now, and we are very excited to return to Disney cruises again soon. I have taveled with two other cruise lines, and it was difficult to not compare them with the luxury of Disney. It is everything you would expect, and MORE! Be sure to budget for the many ship photos you will want to buy at the end of your trip!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We loved the rotational dining, and never felt inconvenienced about our seating time. It allowed us time to see the show and then dinner at 6:30, followed by a swim or big movie. Perfect pace for families or adults. Every meal was excellent, whether it was the restaurants or buffet. Not an average meal on any day! The decor of the restaurants was lovely, and we had a very hard time picking which was our favorite as we loved them all.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We have talked for years about the wonderful evening shows - hugely talented, excellent sets and costumes, and not a yawn in the house! We did many of the family games, and had a lot of fun - even opted not to disembark at one port because there was so much fun going on during the day on board! The pools are absolutely great, but we were so busy we did not spend nearly the amount of time we wanted to on deck. Never opened a book or magazine, but I'm not complaining! There is no casino, but I did not miss it, because the lounge entertainment was first rate, and you would find it a challenge to leave one to experiece another because each band was excellent. Can't wait to return as an adult so I can stay out late dancing!

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We took a look around the children and teen areas, and my three kids thought it looked like a lot of fun, but they opted to do other things and never took advantage of this. I think it is much better run, better facilities, and much more fun than what I've observed on other cruise lines. We were all disappointed that the Disney characters were extremely scarce, and the few times we saw them on board the lines were too long for the individual pics you would expect to have taken.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We neve experienced a grumpy, rude or bored employee the whole time, unlike other cruise lines since. They were happy, extremely helpful, had geat advice on any question we had no matter who we asked. The cruise director was fun, enthusiastic and accessible. The captain gave us a wonderful tour of the bridge early on departure day, and was found all over the ship during our cruise. The wait staff could not have been more helpful, had excellent suggestions, and made us believe nothing was more important to them than our pleasurable meals. The room stewards were very attentive, always asking in the halls if we needed anything, and left not only the anticipated towel animals and chocolates each night, but a commemorative set of cruise pins at the end, something I've never heard of for passengers in lower priced rooms on other ships. Every staff member made us feel welcome and acted as if it was a privilege to serve us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The decor is absolutely beautiful top to bottom. The luxury of every area, from the lounges to bathrooms to restaurants to passageways made you feel like you were traveling first class. It was spotless and every space was well appointed. Plenty of elevators, and lots of signage so we didn't feel lost on this huge ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was our first cruise, and we opted for the ocean-view room. We were very surprised at how lovely it was, not at all like some of the lower-priced rooms we have experienced on other cruise lines since. Very nice extra touches, well appointed room and excellent bathroom, and quite roomy even for a family of 4. Very comfortable beds, satiny sheets, and perfect temperature control. The large portal was perfect to keep an eye on the weather, and we propped our Disney Hands from the departure in the window so we could find our room from outside the ship.

Pros: decor, entertainment, food, service

Cons: very few Disney character sightings
