Review summary

Disney allows you to book a placeholder if you cruise again within 2 years and we did it after our 2nd day. As they say, "The Disney Difference". The service, the attention to detail, the attitudes of the crew and constant smiling, it just makes a world of difference. Disney goes above and beyond and truly makes you feel like you're on vacation in a way that you don't experience with any other cruise line. The itinerary was beautiful with fantastic (75-80 degrees) weather every single day. The food, the service, the attention, the catering, everything was just phenomenal. Disney Cruises will now be an annual vacation for us. It's a great way to see other parts of the world, have fun, relax, and really go on vacation. You forget that you don't really live on the ship with constant catering and service. Disney really is that good!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Wonderful! The food is always great. The food at Remy dinner and Palo brunch/dinner are absolutely fantastic and so worth the upcharge. Remy dessert was underwhelming, but definitely not a waste of money. Cabanas buffet was always well-stocked, clean, with enough choices to make you question how much you really wanted to eat. The main dining rooms were always clean, servers were always attentive and quick. Quick service stations were always stocked, never had to wait long, and the soft serve ice cream never stopped flowing.

The dinner was FANTASTIC. We ended up doing the wine pairing and an extra black truffle dish, so it got pricey, but so worth it. As foodies, we were really looking forward to the dinner, and it did not disappoint. We would absolutely do it again just for the experience. The food was phenomenal and probably one of the best meals we've ever had, and that means a lot to foodies. We each got a different tasting menu and split it, so we enjoyed all. Favorites were the pork belly (american) and the fish (french) dishes. Getting dressed up was fun for us and we would love to do it again. Dessert was a little underwhelming and definitely not a impressive as dinner, but it was still fun. We also did the wine pairing and enjoyed it, but would skip it next time.

Cabanas

My absolute favorite meal of the day is always breakfast. And there is nothing better than having almost anything you could want for breakfast, in whatever quantity you want. From eggs, to omelets, to hashbrowns, to pancakes (blueberry & banana), to french toast, to cereal and oatmeal, to sausage (chicken and pork), to bacon and ham, to grilled tomatoes and asparagus, to deli meats and bagels, to smoked salmon and yogurt, to donuts and pastries, to fresh fruit and granola, to roasted potatoes and toast, to english muffins and biscuits and gravy, to eggs benedict and corned beef hash and steak, they have everything! Cabanas for lunch is just as good and dinner is a sit down regular dining experience. Great all around!

Senses Rainforest

Our favorite part of the rainforest room is definitely lounging and sleeping on the heated ceramic loungers. Even though it doesn't seem like it would be a lot of fun, it really was! The showers were cool and it was nice to sit in the saunas and steamrooms, but the jacuzzi and the ceramic loungers were definite winners.

Ooh La La Lounge

Enjoyed the venue for wine and tequila tastings. Such a cute little area with pearls and over-the-top french-inspired details. I love the decor and definitely enjoy sitting in there with a great glass of wine!

Palo

Brunch is an absolutely must do. So many options, such a small stomach. You want to eat everything. The buffet is amazing with great choices. Breakfast pastries and breads, caramel cinnamon roles, shrimp, ceviche, prosciutto, cheeses, crackers, salmon, crab, etc. The ordering menu is also great. The dessert! Chocolate covered strawberries and triffles and tiramisu!

Onboard Activities

As a couple in our early 30s, we stuck to adults only activities. We enjoyed bingo and the trivias, the Rainforest Room was an unexpected pleasure, the upcharge dinings were amazing, and I loved that we had our own pool and whirlpool away from the splashing and constant kid running. I did wish for one or two more things to do during sea days for adults only, though.

AquaDuck

For kids, this is great and probably really fun. Because it goes around the top deck, I honestly thought it would be more fun than it was. Not that it's bad, but as an adult, it was okay. We only rode it once with a short line of about a 10 minute wait. We didn't ride a second time.

Entertainment

We are not musical-favoring people so we did not watch Aladdin's live performance, but we enjoyed the DJs, the Cruise Staff, and the juggling.

Service and Staff

Absolutely excellent. Our room hostess Gisele was fantastic and always thrilled for us to try something new, get off at port, and she loved hearing our reports when we got back. She truly kept us excited for everything. And she was extremely fast in tidying our room, making and turning down our bed. Waiters, servers, and everyone else cleaning around the ship were great. Always with a smile and a greeting, so fast to clean up after someone, always scrubbing the pool deck and cleaning up water puddles, just above and beyond.

Ship Quality

After a day or two, you feel like you live there and know where everything is. The ship is definitely easy to navigate. All common areas were immaculate and constantly cleaned.

Cabin / Stateroom

Loved the size of the verandah and loved sitting out there and watching the ocean from the very back of the ship. However, because it is the very back of the ship, next to the engines, you can definitely really feel the movement when the ship is in a hurry. Our first night we left Port Canaveral a little late, and definitely felt it. The room rattles a little bit when entering port, but nothing horrible if you're not a light sleeper. Some nights I barely noticed any rumbling, some nights were louder than others. The size of the verandah, in my opinion, is worth the tiny bit of noise.

Easy to navigate. Love Disney's embarkation area. So fun and cute.

Cozumel, Mexico

Very pushy silver sellers everywhere. Note, you can haggle with them. We did the Dolphin Discovery excursion, booked on our own. SO WORTH IT. We did the VIP, which came with all dolphin activities, VIP food, and open bar. The food was good, drinks were good, and the dolphin experience was an absolute highlight or our trip.

George Town, Grand Cayman

If I were to visit Grand Cayman again, I would definitely book a more expensive excursion or stay on the ship. I didn't mind the tendering and Disney made it very easy and smooth to get on and off the ship. We did the Nautilus underwater ship excursion, and honestly felt it was a waste of money. The way the windows are situated, you have to bend almost the entire time to see anything. You see some fish and a few broken pieces of a ship that is supposed to be a shipwreck. It sounds more exciting that it is. After the excursion, we stopped in a souvenir shop to ask where we could find a taxi. Both women working in the store seemed annoyed to help us and one did not even look up from her phone. Taxis are definitely not as easy to find as in some ports. We took a taxi to the 7 Mile Beach and got off at an all inclusive area. Was a little expensive, food was expensive, and they charge you for a chair to sit on the beach. Too many people, and there is smoking/cigarettes everywhere. Would not visit again.

Falmouth, Jamaica

We did the Good Hope Estate tour with lunch excursion. The drive up to the estate was beautiful and we got to see a lot more of Jamaica than most who did beach excursions for sure. The estate house is beautiful, but definitely smaller than I expected given the name "estate". The tour is not that long and you do get a lunch buffet with jerk chicken and other local favorites. The guides were friendly and it was an easy trip back and forth. Perhaps will do a beach activity next time.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

The island is beautiful! Truly an island beach escape. I LOVE that they have an adult only beach and food area. It's a little complicated to understand the way the trams work to and from the adult area at first, but we managed. The food was nothing to write home about - same ship fare - hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, brats, chips, fruit, etc - but it wasn't bad at all. The beach is stunning (clear water, white sand), and so quiet. We did the double jet ski and adult only snorkel excursion. Both were great! The jet ski was fun and you go around the entire island. The snorkel excursion is also a lot of fun. You are taken out to a great spot where there are tons of fish and coral to see. After, they move along to a sand bar where they let you go out and take pictures and enjoy the beautiful ocean for a bit. We went around the entire island and got a few rum drinks to to enjoy while taking in the scenery. Would probably do again.

Disembarkation

Easy and smooth. We did the express disembarkation due to flight time and met in the disembarkation area at 7:30 am. We were off the ship around 7:50, only having to wait in the customs line.
