Review summary

We had previously been on four cruises two ocean and two river. Disney was a step above any of them. Yes, Disney is more costly, but we will repeat a family Disney cruise when the European option is available.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We dropped our luggage off at the port and then did some sightseeing before be boarded. By boarding at 1:00, we avoided the long lines and got right on. There was a great welcome by the crew as we walked into the atrium.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was great. We used the buffet for breakfast and lunch and used the dining rooms for dinner. The staff was awesome and attended to every need. A daughter has food allergies. The chef paid her special attention in preparing her meals.

Animator's Palate

5 out of 5

The Animators Palate was great. Each of us drew a character on paper. Disney was able to animate it and presented a video of all the characters created by the dinning patrons. It was fabulous.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We had four children with us (11,8,6,3). Each one had a great experience with the activities. The activities were well organized and fun.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage shows were excellent. All geared towards the family. The quality was outstanding. Broadcast quality for sure. Our six year old in particular enjoyed the ventriloquist very much.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our children enjoyed the clubs in the beginning, but quickly realized they enjoyed the movies and pool area more.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I can't compliment the staff enough. Highest quality of friendliness with an attitude that the passenger always comes first.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Looked brand new. Someone was always cleaning something. We were asked to wash our hands before each meal that I am sure helped all of us stay healthy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
More room that on other cruises. The baths consisted of two rooms. One with commode and sink. The other with shower, children's tub and sink. Oriented to families with children.

Ship tip

With children, we found the late dinning was the best. We saw the early show, had a break and then a late dinner. It suited our family the best. The late show would not have been good for the children.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
We went to the Exploration Tower near the port. I would not recommend that for children. The adults did enjoy it however.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
We found the island tour to be very interesting for the adults. We were able to see the extent of the damage from the double hurricane hit. The beaches were fine.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
The island had recovered more due to it being a US territory. We toured the island and enjoyed the beach.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
Cannot say enough good things about this island. Pure white sandy beaches. Lots of chairs and shade. Excellent meal provided. Tons of activities for the adults and kids. We were the last to board the ship. Did not want to leave.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Was very smooth and orderly, although we did not want to disembark.

Who did you previously cruise with? We are carnival cruisers and are thinking about doing Disney in the fall though it is double the price... is it worth it?
