Review summary

If you have a family with young children--or even if it's a couple's vacation--a Caribbean cruise with Disney on the Fantasy is hard to beat. There truly is something on board for everyone, no matter their age. The cabins, on board entertainment, and friendliness of the staff is the best we've seen yet.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We love being announced and cheered by staff when stepping on board the ship for the first time!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We were underwhelmed by the quality of the food in the three main dining rooms. If you want really wonderful dining, make a reservation at either Palo (Italian) or Remy (French) restaurants. Please know that these two dining rooms are an additional cost, but worth it.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The onboard activities for families and kids (especially the kids!) are the main reason we sail with Disney Cruise Line. If you have children under 18, sail with Disney and rest assured everyone in your family will be very happy on days at sea.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We love the on-board movie theater! How cool is it to be sailing the Caribbean and be able to catch movies that are in theaters back home? And all movies are included.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We cannot say enough great things about the kids programs onboard a Disney Cruise. Our two boys (ages 8 and 5) never want to leave the Kids Clubs! And as parents, we love that we can enjoy "grown-up" time while the boys are off having fun with Buzz Lightyear, Goofy, Mickey, Tinkerbell and the rest of the gang.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone from our stateroom attendant to the captain is so helpful, friendly, welcoming, and ready to go above and beyond to provide a magical experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We love the cabin design (with separate rooms for the commode and the shower/tub) and the clever ways Disney has made the most of the space. We love the verandahs, the ship's layout, and how clean every area is, all day long.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This is my favorite cabin yet out of the three different options we've tried. We'll be sticking with this design until the boys are too big to fit in the top bunk bed!

Ship tip

Save empty water bottles for refilling at the pool area.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
We didn't spend extra time here before boarding the ship or retuning home, but I think the only thing worthy of exploring would be the Space Center.

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We love Grand Cayman and enjoyed visiting Shark City.

Falmouth, Jamaica

3 out of 5
We were so underwhelmed with this port and its activities that we stayed on board during this port of call and enjoyed very short lines for the Aqua Duck and a practically empty movie theater.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

5 out of 5
Castaway Cay is wonderful because it is a Disney-owned island. You can pay for everything from float and snorkel rentals to drinks from the bar with your Key to The World Card. Lunch is included, and the beach is great. Plus there are structures out in the ocean just a short swim out for the kids to play on.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very organized and worry-free if you do the onboard airline check-in. They take your suitcases the night before you leave and you don't have to worry about digging through piles of suitcases back in Port Canaveral. You can just walk off the board with a carry-on and, if you've purchased tickets on the Magical Express, climb on the air-conditioned bus and take a little nap on the way back to the airport.
