Review summary

Good but not great cruise. We’ve been on better Disney cruises in the past.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
The Fort Lauderdale cruise port is still working out the kinks. We arrived after our designated port arrival time, but we were still forced to wait quite a while because the staff we’re having difficulty processing everyone. Also I didn’t get any assistance with my mobility issues.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Palo what is excellent as always. Two of the three main dining rooms were definitely not up to Disney standards for food. The meat was dry, and it took quite a while for everything to come out. The ship was sailing at capacity, but it felt as if the servers were all constantly rushing. We didn’t get that sense of Disney hospitality we have had in the past.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The adult pool area was nice and well kept up. The spa was great also. We especially enjoyed the rainforest room.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were first rate as always. There was a wide variety of trivia and music as well.

Children's Programs

We did not travel with children.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Lauren, our cabin steward, was phenomenal. He remembered lots of little things about us and went out of his way to make sure we got everything we needed to make the room comfortable. Our servers in the dining room were very good, but we spent a good 5 to 10 minutes at each meal being told About how important it was to rate the quality of the food and the service highly. Our server at Palo was outstanding.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ship is laid out well. It’s easy to get from one place to another. I appreciated that there were so many elevators.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Deck two was a good location in terms of being able to go places. It was also nice to not have so many rooms nearby. However, the noise level was more than I had anticipated. Lauren did an excellent job of keeping our cabin tidy and making sure all the little extras were present.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Just came directly into town and got on the ship.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Beautiful port with beautiful weather. We enjoyed strolling the streets and shopping. We did not take an excursion.

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island) Did not visit port

The ship was unable to dock at the port due to high winds.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Getting through the maze to locate luggage was challenging. Otherwise it wasn’t too bad.
