Review summary

This was a great cruise for the grandchildren. For adults it is a good cruise but not great. An alcohol package would make for less hassle with presenting cards and signing for everything. The entertainment was excellent for family. Tipping could be made easier.

Embarkation

The welcoming, once we could get to our area, was great. Personal attention to help us through to the ship. Enthusiastic greeting with a guide to our floor.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The service staff was excellent. The staff was assigned too many tables to allow much personal interaction. The layout and decor of the main restaurants was varied and well done. The Buffet restaurant layout was awkward.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pools were great for the grandchildren and they loved the water slides. All of the pools were floating or wading pools (including adult pools) but none for swimming.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service was excellent. The staff worked very hard to accomodate and were always pleasant.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout of the Buffet restaurant (Cabana's) was awkward with foot traffic from elevators getting to the pools going opposite serving lines in a narrow area. The other restaurants were great. Again, the lack of a swimming pool stood out. The adult section was only a wading pool and lounging. As far as cleanliness, this was Disney. When a show used confetti, it was swept up immediately by a team. Cups and papers were picked up immediately.

Ship tip

Be ready for tipping. A basic tip is added daily to the bill for the four major areas, but the you are given an envelope to add more cash for those positions with the expectation that you will (we did). I would prefer to have levels of tipping that could be checked (fair, good and excellent) with tips accordingly added. Also, the pitures cannot be shared between rooms for your collection. I took my children and grandchildren. Unless my wife and I were in the picture, we could not get tthe pictures of the grandchildren (wait till home). All of the rooms were in a group and paid for as a unit, so why not?

Ports of call

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

Overcrowded. Not enough room for a ship like the Dream.
