Review summary

As a huge Disney fan, growing up in Anaheim, DCL has been a dream of mine. My past cruise experiences have been RCCL. Please forgive me, as I may have started with high very high expectations. Our boarding experience was less than desirable. Outside fighting frigid cold, we were on the ground level to drop off bags. We felt hustled to tip the gentleman who took the bags. We would have anyway as that is the proper thing to do. He went into a full explanation to make it known they are not in the tip pool. We felt very obligated and gave him a twenty after he said he could give us change when a couple of bucks didn’t appear to be enough. He directed us back to the parking garage to 3rd floor to access ship. Standing outside for another 45 minutes in very windy, cold air. Registering was rather swift and maybe too swift as not much was explained. We signed forms, given keys and kid band. No directive, no explanation, eta of room access...nothing. I’m in the hotel/hospitality industry and when we have a new guest we love to share with the the happenings of the resort and amenities. I will say the cast members were awesome! From our room attendant to food/beverage servers. The room was magnificent with the dual bathroom set up, bunk beds that appear as if out of no where in the evening. Great storage including under the bed for luggage! The beds slept beautifully. Oh and the shower! If I could just pack that up and talk it home with me! Water temp and pressure had me in there much longer than needed. Our first food and beverage experience was at Cabanas. Was good for a buffet with many options. Our first evening we splurged and went to Remy. Overall a great experience and highly recommend if you’re into very fine dining. The two chefs really created two exceptional experiences and recommend going with either the French or American set menu. Dinner the other two nights were good but not fantastic. This is the area where Disney can improve. Dishes were a hit or miss. Breakfast in your assigned restaurant the morning of departure absolutely sucked. Powered eggs, frozen pancakes and paper thin bacon. Although the coffee was so much better compared to the coffee at Cabanas. I couldn’t wait to get home for a real cup of Joe. I’m a huge Disney fan and will always be. I just wish my personal experience was a better one. Unfortunately the trip was more chaotic than relaxing.
