Have always loved cuising with Princess but there is room for improvement.
Discovery is bigger but not better. Get the feeling that more rooms were added for more $$
Medallion System needs to have kinks worked out. Doesn't work in real time. Unable to locate shipmates in real time.
Difficult to track purchases from day to day. Not always uploaded in a timely manner.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very smooth
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Buffet - large selection, quality food
Dinning Room - Ketchakan - Excellent food and service!! Alexander and Main waiter were top notch. 10++
Sabattini's Italian Restaurant - Extra charge $35 / person was ok. But a little frustrated that there was an additional charge for filet mignon and the lobster. The food wasn't any better than the dining room. Almost felt like a money grab.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Pools were beautiful. The Retreat felt like another money grab.
Loved the gym - could have used more core machines and reclining bicycles
Would have liked it if the Spa was next to the gym instead of down on the 5th floor. No beautiful ocean views from the Spa
Would have liked the walking track to be more the length of the ship. You had to do 9 laps for each mile which became very monotonous.
Seemed like the Spa treatments were very expensive and we do like Spa services
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Shows, Casino and Musicians excellent.
Would have liked to have had slot tournaments in addition to the poker tournaments
Would like to see bingo tournements on port days when the ship is out to sea
Children's Programs
No children in our group
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Room Steward "Peth" was excellent. Learned our schedule and kept the room in perfect shape without getting in our way. Very stealth. Can't say enough about his professionalism
Head Waiter and Alexander the assist waiter were also top notch "10" ++++ Very professional and friendly. Very accomodating with any additional requests
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
High level - Felt like this was a grand ship but seemed to just add extra rooms to increase $$
Specifically:
Not enough specialty bars ie, Caviar and Champagne, Specialty Coffee etc
Specialty Restaurants were too close to the walking paths which disrupted the dining experience
No Library
Had to walk thru the food court to get the front of the ship (pool, bar, lounges)
Walking Track very small. Would like to see a deck that circles the ship on the outside
The room:
layout was difficult to maneuver. When someone was in the bathroom, you hit the person trying to get ready in the closet area if you opened the door to the bathroom.
Lighting above the bed came on along with the light in the closet area so if you just needed to get to the bathroom in the night there was no way to turn on the light outside of the bathroom in the closet area without disturbing the person in the room.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Mini Suite - please see above.
Additionally, there were no in room "Important Announcements" to notify
Had to open door to try and hear announcements
Ship tip
Take a good look at what is important to you as far as ship design, activities etc
I guess some people will always look for the little things and forget they are on vacation enjiyingba cruise. I've been on many cruises, and I can nit pick on every little thing about those ships, but why, its not worth it to look for the little things that only I am seeing and wind up missing the fact I'm on a cruise, that 90% of people may never get the chance to enjoy.
