This was a wonderful short cruise! We enjoyed our time on Discovery Princess a great deal. The food, the service, and the entertainment were top notch. Things that could use improvement were the capacity in the Main Dining Room, scheduling of entertainment (only one hour of karaoke on certain nights? Really?), and the wifi/Medallion app (didn't always work and was very glitchy).
Embarkation

Check in and embarkation was extremely efficient. We were through the entire process in about 20 minutes, and on board the ship within the hour.

Food and Dining

Food was delicious, as to be expected on Princess. They have high quality food, excellent availability, and a great variety. We especially enjoyed our dinner at the Crown Grill; well worth the minimal upcharge.
Only complaint I have was the process of getting reservations or a walk-up in the Main Dining rooms. Unless you are willing to commit to a dining time months in advance (we were not), or eat dinner at 5pm or after 8pm, getting a table in the MDR was pretty much impossible. Similar situation with breakfast. Also, they no longer allow shared tables. Very disappointing.
Crown Grill

Best meal we had all cruise (and that's a high bar)! Food, service, and ambiance were all spectacular. Highly recommend you splurge for a meal here if you are on a Princess Cruise.

Entertainment

All the entertainment was excellent! Ours ended up being a comedy themed cruise, which was great fun. We enjoyed the headliner comics and the improv troup. The Princess Singers and Dancers were wonderful as well; it was too bad they only got to do one production show. Other musical acts throughout the ship were great as well.

Discovery Princess is a beautiful ship! It was very easy to get around, and to find things. Our favorite places to hang out were the main Piazza and the Vista Lounge.
Cabin / Stateroom

We had a Deluxe Balcony cabin, and really enjoyed it. It was nice to have that little extra sitting room area, as well as the balcony itself for enjoying beautiful sunsets and taking in the night air before going to sleep. The beds are so comfortable; I slept incredibly well every night.
Ship tip
This ship is billed as Princess' "most luxurious ship in the fleet", and it certainly lives up to the reputation.
We loved having the extended day in San Diego. There is so much to see and do, and it was really nice to not have to worry about hurrying back on board.
My husband and I both love to visit Ensenada. We don't take any of the tours, rather, we just enjoy a little shopping downtown and eating local seafood. If you are a connoisseur of fine tequila, be sure to check out The Tequila Room.
