Crown Princess

27 Night British Isles Grand Adventure (Ft. Lauderdale To Southampton)

Sail date: April 16, 2019

Ship: Crown Princess

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Despite the very rough seas the crossing was good, the crew were on hand to assist, specially at meals time when the ship, rocked and rolled!! Princess has to make inroads into wheelchair accessible vehicles. This as a BIG FAIL when in ports.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was a back to back cruise, however the in transit through immigration was the best in 6 back to back cruises.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining and Horizon as usual excellent. Did not use speciality restaurants as all inclusive means all inclusive not pay for a meal.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Plenty of activities around that were fine but during the very inclement weather instead of just cancelling, a change in venue or additional quizzes would have proved better. Nothing more boring than just sitting around a lot,of the time

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows, orchestra were brilliant. The contracted entertainers were just clubbers on a joyride. Not the usual standard of Princess

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service all round was excellent. Waiters, assistants, room steward and general crew were as good as any before.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Crown Princess is a fantastic cruiseship but is in need of a spring clean. Carpets and walls have seen better days which can only mean she is due for a refit. Other than that the Crown is a wonderful ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Always clean and tidy, bathroom week looked after. The stateroom steward was mature and knew how to look after elderly passengers. The cabin was in need of a carpet clean.

Ship tip

The Front Desk and Shore excursions are a fountain of knowledge. Use the for advise,,it is free and the staff are excellent.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
The actual quay was under repair but was fine. The Princess Staff were well prepared and moved passengers through the embarkation with care.

Ponta Delgada, Azores

5 out of 5
Always pleased to visit this port. The mosaic and cobbles make it difficult to manage a wheelchair but the town is a wonder to visit.

Lisbon, Portugal

5 out of 5
Another super port. Easy to get around but away from the shore area the hills are a little difficult for wheelchairs. People are friendly and th food and drinks are very reasonable

Portland (Weymouth), England, UK

3 out of 5
Nice place to visit but NO Wheelchair accessible vehicles for the transfer to town. Despite the UK laws that state bus and coach companies must have wheelchair accessible vehicles non were provided. That is a BIG LET DOWN BY PRINCESS

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The preparation on the Crown Princess for disembarkation was excellent. The move ashore went well.

Sounds like a fun trip! We are a little concerned about inclement during our transatlantic cruise next year, but we are sooo excited to do the cruise!

We sailed on the Crown Princess for an 8-day Caribbean cruise in March 2018. Loved the Crown; hope to sail her again SOON!

The Crown is our favourite ship. As you say it's always a challenge for wheelchair users both on board and especially in the different ports.
