Unless there are the possibilities of:
1) a single passenger's not being asked to pay so much more for the same accommodations as a couple;
2) a passenger's being able to simply navigate the ship's WiFi system;
3) a destination or destinations that REALLY intrigue(s) me with MUCH more time in port than 8-10 hours;
AND
4) paying for a drinks package that doesn't have daily maximums that surely ensure a passenger's ALWAYS paying more than necessary;
I shall make this cruise my 1 & only sailing with Princess.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
This was a positive experience. When my flight to Ft. Lauderdale was delayed by 2 hours, I called the (800) number to let Princess know, and my worries were allayed. The embarkation was a simple 15-minutes affair.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
I was accommodated as a vegan by Sergio who was the only person who took control and to whom I gave control of my dining room dining.
The food was plentiful, but mostly unimaginative. I never felt as if I were treated as a full passenger due to my dietary restrictions and my being a single passenger; however, as stated, I was always accommodated a vegan menu.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
I attended 1 get-together. I looked through the daily guide every morning, but there were very few activities that mildly interested me.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
I believe there were a magician, some speakers, and dancing; but those aren't my interests.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
I use the term "cheerful insincerity" to describe almost all the service people EXCEPT FOR the spa personnel; they were excellent. The others only seemed to be momentarily interested until the next customer, the next ship-full of passengers, etc..
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
In comparison to the Queen Mary 2, there is almost no comparison, apart from the Crown Princess' being a ship. I describe almost the entire experience (apart from the spa) as okay - everything seemed like the least amount of effort for the job at-hand.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
I paid quite a bit for a mini-suite AND as a single passenger, and if my $4400 allowed me access to my room, I despair at the thought of the baser rooms on-board.
Ship tip
If you wish to merely go from point A to point B with quantity's being more important than quality, Princess is for you.
If you'd like to experience quality WITH quantity, book passage on a Cunard ship.
This description shall serve for all 3 ports: the tacky display of tourist crap was only made a bit more acceptable next to a person's walking 5 minutes beyond our mooring to see the dirty & desperate situations in which the local inhabitants live.
Of the 3, Kralendijk had the sole condition of being part of a small, sparsely inhabited, and having relatively few tourists.
Maybe you should just stay home. Everything you mentioned was clearly laid out in everything about that cruise. Reading is fundamental.
The wifi cant be easier My wife and 10 year grandson had no issue, Sounds like you really didn't want to have a good time and got on the ship with a bad attitude.
You really cant please everyone. I hope you can one day find a place where you can enjoy yourself.
We loved Aruba so much that the following years we spent 11 days there on the beach. I believe that cruises are just to make you familiar with the ports of call so you can decide whether you want to spend more time at that location. It's no fun traveling along, sorry you weren't happy on your cruise.
I’m not sure how “imaginative” one can get with a vegan menu. There are only so many ways to dress up a vegetable or a carbohydrate. As for a single paying for a double, it’s like that on every cruise line unless you book one of NCL’s studios or something similar. I find it laughable that you would even compare Princess to the Queen Mary which is obviously in a much different category of cruising. You sound like a pretty difficult person to please. I’m sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations 😕
The things you list are things you already knew when you booked your cruise with Princess and chose yourself. Like the cost of a single cruise, choice of itinerary, and length of time in each port. And you can’t blame the cruise line for you having a restricted diet. You’re the one who needs to be flexible, not them, since they need to accommodate 2000 guests, not just the few with special dietary requests. And I really don’t know why a single would book a mini suite. Seems a little overkill. So this seems a bit unfair to rate Princess based on things that you had control over and should have researched better.
