Review summary

We enjoyed this cruise and are looking forward to cruising again in just 4 months on this same ship for 11 nights in the Mediterranean.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Check-in was smooth and quick, however boarding took time with pictures and showing of room cards to gain access to the ship. Air conditioning in the enclosed gangway was insufficient.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was great. The variety would suit virtually anyone. I was stuffed and gained 4 pounds on this 6 day cruise.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Shows, art auctions, shopping, listening to music, reading, sitting on our balcony watching the flying fish

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage shows were very good and the singers and dancers were wonderful. The female vocalists had marvelous range.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Ship personnel were always polite, some seemed happy, but not all. Our room steward De Gomez seemed reserved and most of the wait staff in the buffet were very impersonal except for one singing waiter who was obviously in the holiday spirit.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Lots of room and so many different venues, it really wasn’t obvious that the ship was sold out. We could find a seat for everything except the comedian in the explorer lounge. They need to move that show to the theater.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Comfortable and for us as a couple, plenty large. We had a mini-suit on this same ship 2 years ago and were just as happy with a balcony room and really didn’t miss the sofa found in the mini suit. The only problem was a intermittent bathroom light switch that I did not bother to report.

Ship tip

Buy the soda and more package and order your alcohol by the bottle from room service and then mix your own drinks. It’s about one-third the price of buying drinks at the bars.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Great area to relax and do some lite shopping. Lots of flies in and around the outdoor bar at Margaritaville, but otherwise no signs of the recent hurricanes that went through 3 months ago.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Very warm but again the port is well laid out. A very nice pool with swim up bar and more lite shopping. A nice duty free store offerred up a new bottle of 100 proof Jack Daniel Travelers Single Barrell that I added to my collection.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and very easy to claim luggage
