Review summary

I have traveled many times on Princess and this is not the level of service I have come to expect from them.  There did not seem to be enough staff to cover all the passengers even though they tried very hard.  The service in the dining room was extremely slow.  They seated my husband and I at a table with 7 other people - it was only designed for 8 people and with 9 it was very crowded.  The waiter often would wait for everyone to arrive - and they were always late.  Even after we asked him to take our orders without waiting we usually ended up finishing up dinner at the same time as the whole table - which meant that there were long periods of time we were just sitting at the table waiting while the others ate.  It also meant that we missed activities we wanted to attend.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Dining room service extremely slow. But food was good overall. Getting lobster without butter sauce is not my idea of good - please serve the butter in a little container on the plate like most restaurants.

Onboard Activities

More trivia please. Hard to keep up with the time changes and get to events on time.

Entertainment

Dining room kept us so late we missed the early show most of the time because it was too crowded by the time we got there to get a seat. I don't stay awake for the later shows.

Service and Staff

They did not seem to be as helpful as on other Princess ships. In the buffet line they did not offer to help even though I use a walker and it was very crowded. That always happened on other ships. Dining room was terrible.

All guests eating at the same time at the table is common dining etiquette. Of course at a large table some of the guests will arrive before others. They should wait until the others arrive. After 10 minutes or so if the others are a no show then the waiter can start you off. It would be rude to pressure a waiter to take orders without waiting for tablemates. If you do not want to follow this courtesy then book a small table or go to the buffet. Dinner in the dinning room should not be confused with fast-food. It is an event in itself and often better entertainment than the show you might miss.

Simple solution next time. Ask for a table for 2 next time first night. Then go to the host and request that same table at a given time each night. Problem solved.
