Review summary

I recently sailed on the Crown Princess for the first time, and all I can say is "Wow!" I was amazed at the overall beauty of the ship and all of the things it has to offer. From the anytime dining which provided outstanding food and excellent service to the room service it was truely and amazing experience. This was the first time I had ever sailed with Princess but I plan to cruise with them going forward. Anytime I had a question or concern it was addressed quickly and easily. The entire staff was always friendly and had the can do attitude from the start to the end of the cruise. For someone looking at a step up in travel from the traditional cruise lines I would highly recommend this ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
By far this was the best overall dining experience I have ever had on any cruise. The buffet was very plentiful and yet not over the top. The dining in the main dining rooms was over the top and outstanding. The quality of food along with the service sets Princess apart from the other lines which I have cruised with in the past. On formal night when I asked for multiple servings of lobster they quickly provided them without any questions. I personally enjoyed the pizza bar and burger grill as well which is located out by the pool. Cafe Caribe which is the nightly buffet was outstanding in the food it provides as well. They always have something different like Mexican, Indian or Southern Caribbean each night including something I had never seen on a buffet before which was grilled steaks.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Overall the entertainment was good however it was a repeat of what I have seen on other ships. This was the only area to which I was slightly disappointed.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I never once met anyone from the staff that didnt want to assist. Even when I purchased the wrong excursion and went back the next day they quickly provided me a refund and booked me on the excursion to which I wanted to go on. In the dining room the head waiter and assistant waiter was outstanding even with anytime dining. We had a group of 12 to 15 each night and when we arrived for anytime dining we never waited more than 5 minutes to get seated. In the bars they always provided top notch service.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
There are a lot of places on this ship which you can find a quite area to read and relax. Whether you are out on one of the many sun decks or inside in one of the alcoves with very comfortable chairs there are plenty of places to sit and relax without being in the midst of a crowd.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I enjoyed a balcony stateroom which had a nice 27" flat screen TV with several channels. The queen size bed was very comfortable and it was awesome being able to sleep with the balcony door open to hear the waves from the ocean. The walk in closet was the best I have ever experienced on any cruise I have taken. The bathroom was average size however I did like the fact that you are given real bars of soap and bottles of shampoo versus having a dispenser.

Ports of call

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Docking at Mahogney Bay with Princess is a real treat to start your day. I had the best excursion which I have taken on any cruise in Roatan. I went to Gumbalimba Preservation Park to delight in watching the free-flying scarlet macaws which are amazing. I held several juvenile monkeys, and strolled through the botanical garden filled with beautiful tropical plants and flowers. This is certainly an excursion you do not want to miss.
Don't Miss: Gumbalimba Preservation Park

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
This was clearly the most pleasent surprise of the entire trip. This island is beautiful with a lot to do regardless of your age. I would encourage you to get off the ship as soon as it anchors. There are many water activities to enjoy along with laying on the beach in a nice lounger or under a shelter with a fan blowing on you. The lunch they provide is outstanding and includes all you can eat fruit bowls. Given that there are many natives that have shops on the island dont forget to take cash as they do not accept the cruise card for payment.
Don't Miss: The local's shops that are located on the island along with the great lunch.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Great shopping and would highly recommend a visit to the Turtle Farm. That excursion always sells out early so be sure and book in advance.

Cozumel, Mexico

I would highly recommend doing a snorkeling tour on this island. For those who enjoy shopping take a taxi to downtown and explore the shops. I would highly recommend having lunch at Pancho's Back Yard and enjoy their shop as well. The food and service are outstanding at Panchos.
Don't Miss: Lunch at Pancho's Back Yard

Pros: The overall service was the best I have ever experienced on a cruise ship
