Coral Princess

7 Night Alaska Voyage Of The Glaciers Southbound (Whittier To Vancouver)

Sail date: June 08, 2009

Ship: Coral Princess

Cabin type: Balcony

Reviewed: 15 years ago

Review summary

This was our sixth cruise and our first on Princess. We had a wonderful overall experience. Highlights were the excellent chef, the naturalist who gave continuous commentary and the breathtaking scenery. Princess is a little more low keyed than other lines - fewer public announcents and activity by the pool. We were very pleased.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Superb in every venue. We didn't even need to try the specialty restauants. There were a large number of healthy options - fresh, ripe fruit and not overcooked veggies, which is very rare on cruise ships. The baked goods were delicous. The cuisine was innovative and appealing.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The comics were fantastic. The ship switches half way with another ship, so there is variety. One Broadway-type show was very good and the other not so great.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The dining room staff was excellent. The other service was fine.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It wasn't the newest ship, but it was tastefully decorated and very well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our balcony room was very well laid out. Our only complaint was the way too tiny shower stall.

The Mendenhall Glacier is a must. Many other passengers went whale watching and had a fantastic experience. There is not much going on in the town otherwise.
Don't Miss: Mendenhall glacier

Flightseeing is a must. Again, not much going on in this down. They had the best shopping for hand crafted jewelry and other items. We found the totem parks not that exciting.
Don't Miss: Flightseeing

Skagway, Alaska

We took a terrific free walking tour from the historic society. An excursion to Haines is highly recommended. There isn't enough in the town to keep you busy all day.
Don't Miss: An excursion to Haines.

Pros: Food, scenery and naturalist on Board.

Cons: Shower was extremely small and flooded bathroom.
