Review summary

This was my first Celebrity sailing and I wasn’t all that impressed. It felt just like a Princess sailing with a more modern vibe. Activities and entertainment were non-existent. The drinks were made well enough at least. If you’re looking to disconnect (because the Internet onboard is practically unusable), this is your sailing. It was a snoozer. Oh, we were quarantined the last day of the sailing due to possible exposure to Covid onboard. Even though we tested negative by the medical team, we were still quarantined until we disembarked in Miami. Needless to say, that didn’t help.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The MDR food wasn’t edible (2/10). We tried it at least once because we heard Celebrity had outstanding cuisine but were disappointed. The specialty dining was fantastic, however. Le Petit Chef was a cute concept, entertaining, and the food was nice (7/10). Sushi on 5 was the best sushi/ramen I’ve had in quite a while (10/10). The buffet was decent and had a great selection (8/10). Tuscan Grill was also well-executed (10/10). Service in all restaurants was outstanding.

The entertainment was cancelled one night due to Covid amongst the crew. Aside from that, a DJ played music around the ship.

The staff were all outstanding!!

Ship Quality

The design was modern and clean, for the most part. The ship’s exterior had rust in many places though.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

The cabin was comfortable, clean, and the A/C worked well. Most importantly, the bed and bedding were extremely comfortable! Bravo, Celebrity!

Ship tip

There isn’t much to do onboard. If you’re looking for fun and activities, look elsewhere. She’s a bit old, dated, and small but the crew have taken decent care of the passenger areas. Forego the main dining room for the specialty dining.

I appreciate the supportive comments. ❤️ Covid most likely played a huge role in my experience which is unfortunate. The crew really were amazing, service was outstanding, and the Covid protocols were followed appropriately. Maybe in a few years, we’ll try Celebrity again. 🙂

Sorry you had a bad experience. We had been on the Summit and other Celebrity ships. The different brands and types seem to have a cookie cutter style, seems like if you had been on one brand class of ship you probably might get the same feel as the others. That being said, our experience on Celebrity and the Summit was a more positive than yours. I am hearing COVID is watering down the experiences on other cruise lines too, which is unfortunate, as some ports may not be available along with some of the experiences on board. Not the best time for everyone. That being said we were on another line recently and had a wonderful experience, so I hope that your experience was unique and the next one will be much better.

Thanks for your comments. Too bad your cruise was not as expected. We have been on the Summit many times and the entertainment was top notch. I‘m guessing it was due to COVID that the entertainment was non-existent on your sailing.
