Review summary

Having been on Celebrity's "Summit" on another cruise, I must say it's still beautiful, clean, and with savvy staff everywhere.Cabin attendants kept place spotless and were responsive to requests. Waitstaff in Cosmopolitan were GREAT! Didn't have to ask twice for special requests. Sommelier was on first contract and started off slow but got up to speed by end of first weeek (14 night cruise).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We were so impressed with having some classical opportunities in the Celebrity Theatre. First time we've ever purchased CD's from performers, but they were so good and so varied we just couldn't resist. Had a classically trained pianist, a wonderful jazz fiddler, very funny comedian. Also, had interesting series on how our world is affected by the oceans and how dramatically ocean activity has changed the course of history.

Service and Staff

With a couple of issues, the Guest Relations Team resolved and were always professional and pleasant while doing so. Captain's Club hostess was fabulous!

Ship Quality

Only thing we didn't like this time around is space formerly known as Revelation on Deck 11. It was a beautiful bar overlooking ocean with huge floor to ceiling windows. Also, used for daily bingo and social gatherings with officers, etc. Someone had the idea of turning into a "circus" and have spoiled the ambience with strange decor and coverings on windows. Now called, "the bar at the edge of the earth." Terrible concept and ugly. At first we thought it was decorate for Halloween, but to our surprise it's to stay that way for awhile.

Cabin / Stateroom

We always get a room with a balcony as a way of extending the average size cabins. Upgraded to concierge class, but didn't really take advantage of most add-ons.

Ports of call

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

Warm but lots of VOG remaining because of earthquake couple of weeks earlier.

Hilo, Hawaii

Walked around as relaxed visitor--no tours.

Honolulu, Oahu

Overnight at this port, which was very nice. Made dinner reservations at Orchids (absolutely fabulous food, staff, ambience right on the water). Outside entertainment at "house without a key" you have to make reservation; in past did not have to.
Don't Miss: Must see is are the tributes in honor of WWII veterans (Pearl Harbor, etc.)

Lahaina, Maui

Went to beach and ate at place on beach but can't remember name. It was good but not better than average.

Pros: Enjoying the time at sea and, as returnee, visiting ports without doing tours.

Cons: Earthquake in Kona left some ash residue in sky (called VOG), still warm, no breezes.
