Review summary

This was our first cruise. We've traveled extensively, but to celebrate my 70th birthday, we decided to take our first cruise. We chose Celebrity based on reputation and recommendations from friends, and can honestly say this was a great experience. We plan to sail Celebrity again, but next time we want to explore the Mediterranean.

Embarkation

Some confusion and delay due to Terminal change, but overall excellent.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Luminae was great, and the service from Laurence, Carlos, Jewis and John was top-notch. Murano, where we celebrated my birthday, was also excellent.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We spent time on The Retreat deck, which was much more preferable than the overcrowded pool areas.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw a couple of shows in the theater, and enjoyed John Joseph, who was hilarious.

Children's Programs

Our kids are grown with their own kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our Butler, Raquel, was amazing. She pampered us, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Kadek, our Stateroon Attendant, was extremely accommodating, and serviced our room within minutes when we left each day. It seemed that each time we left, for any reason, someone came in a freshened everything. Our Retreat Concierge, Inrich, was also very nice and helpful, but if I'm being honest, Kaya never went out of her way and only acknowledged us when we spoke directly to her. Very aloof. Luminae was great, and the service from Laurence, Carlos, Jewis and John was excellent. I will say that wherever we went on the ship, the staff would greet us, and were always smiling. Kaya was the only one who did not impress us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. The only thing I felt was lacking in the staterooms was electrical outlets by the bed. We did ask for an extension cord ahead of time for a CPAP, but it was inconvenient stretching across the floor, but Raquel had it taped down for us.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved the room, but the bathroom was a bit small. We will probably opt for a larger suite next time. Other than that, it was clean and comfortable. We can't say enough about Raquel and Kadek.

Ship tip

There are many, but The Retreat is the only way to go.
