Review summary

Overall, we were very disappointed in our experience with Celebrity. We expected Celebrity to be an elevated experience from Royal but that was not our experience! So, back to Royal for me!!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food was mediocre. However, the grill food was really good and was my go to for lunch. I ordered the Salmon most days and it was cooked to perfection. I ordered a steak the last day and requested a steak knife and was told by a staff member that they do not have steak knives ( Oceanview Cafe/ buffet). I thought this was unacceptable since they had steak on the menu but lacked the proper eating utensils.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
This cruise is best for individuals looking to rest, lounge by the pool, enjoy a good book. There are very limited activities on the ship for evening enjoyment. We expected more options aside from the traditional choices of karaoke and trivia. However, we really enjoyed Silent Disco but the music selection could have been more diverse.

Entertainment

The magician was wonderful!!! We thoroughly enjoyed him and I’m still pondering a few of his tricks! The comedian was hilarious. Unfortunately, the entertainment for the third night was cancelled leaving us with very limited options for entertainment on night 3. Very disappointing.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
The service on Celebrity was the most disappointing of the entire trip. We usually cruise with Royal and heard great things about the customer service on Celebrity but I was extremely disappointed with the service on pool deck and in Oceanview Cafe. I’m not sure if they were understaffed or if my expectations were too high but we were constantly waving to get the attention of the waiter to get more drinks etc. Unfortunately, the waiter still did not come to take our order. We are not accustomed to that. On Royal, there are plenty of staff on pool deck available to assist us and we’ve never had to repeatedly wave to get the attention of the wait staff. They go out of their way to keep a drink in your hand. The bistro and bar area in the Solarium was closed, so if you wanted drinks or something to snack on then you had to leave the Solarium and go to the pool deck for drinks ( deck 14) then head up to deck 15 for food. However, our room steward, Rajaan was outstanding! His service was impeccable and our room was spotless.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was is beautiful and was extremely clean. My pet peeve is clean restrooms and every restroom was spotless. The ship is well maintained! Housekeeping and Facilities deserve a 10/10.

Cabin / Stateroom

Great location at the aft of the ship. Beautiful views!

Ship tip

If you are used to the “ Royal” treatment, then stick with Royal. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing cruise, then Celebrity might be a good option for you.

We arrived later than our original planned time due to severe weather, so we really didn’t get to enjoy this port but I’ve been a few times before with Royal. I liked the new changes with the straw market.
