This was our first cruise, not sure there will be a second based on our experience. Spend a lot of money on four excursions only to have 1 that was worth while. Our seasoned cruisers we meet said we should not based our decision on this cruise because they felt it was not good. In all the conversation we had, they all recommended Holland or Norwegian Cruise line. We'll see, still have a bad taste over this cruise,

Room was attended to twice a day, bartenders and servers in main dining room were great.
Port was nice, excursion sucked. Had a day pass to Breezes Resort booked thru "Resort for a Day" web-site which Cruises.com and Celebrity.com sponsor. Felt like we were back in 1970. Sent an email to Resort for a Day or our dislike, they said the resort meet their "Caribbean atmosphere" experience. Not sure what their experience has been to based their statement on but I would not recommended going to the resort and will not use Resort for a Day in the future.
The port was nice and contained. We did the horses back riding excursion booked thru Cruises.com which was a joke. We pulled up to a shack on the side of the rode which had horses in a corral. The handlers walked the horses, which you on them, thru the woods and to a beach ladened with water bottles. The handlers were good, pleasant but I would not consider this a horseback riding excursion, it was more like a kids ride at a carnival.
Probably the best place to visit on the cruise. Port was nice and the excursion was great. We did the snorkeling and stingray excursion, booked thru Viator.com, Captain Marvin's charter. We can't say enough about the boats captain (Captain Ashton) and his crew. What a pleasure they were! Would definitely go back to Grand Cayman and take the excursion again.
The port was nice except for the local shops trying to pull you in on everyone you passed. It got annoying but that is their income I guess. We did the Jeep tour to Punta Sur Eco-Park, booked thru Celebrity. What a joke. Jeep had no AC, you drove 45minutes on the road to get their, no four wheeling so not sure why a jeep was required. Everyone on the tour thought we would be four wheeling. Climbed a light house and drove to the beach restaurant. We did not go snorkeling being it was off the beach and did not think it would compare to Grand Cayman, which in speaking to the people who did, it didn't compare.
Between all our cruises, I doubt we have spent $500 total on excursions. We like to get off the ship and just wander around on our own. We have used local transportation at times and have not had any really bad experiences. We are pretty comfortable doing our research prior to a cruise so we have an idea of what we want to do and see. You have to do whatever makes you comfortable. 😉
Different cruiselines and even ships have a different vibe to them. Sometimes you just have to do what research you can and try different ones to find what fits for you. If it is just shore excursions that didn't meet your expectations then that can happen on any cruiseline.
Cruising is not for everyone. Booking independent excursions is usually a better option than booking through the ship. Researching and watching YouTube videos is the best way to make sure you understand what you’re getting when you book an excursion. Breezes is considered a great beach day by many.
