Review summary
We had 12 excellent cruise days. Unfortunately the cruise duration was 16 days :(
What went awfully wrong? One of the entertainers insulted me, called me stupid, idiot, and stated that "we don'the want people like him in the audience". I complained to the cruise director, guest relations maker and Hotel Director. I got plenty of empty no-apology apologies, but essentially the senior leaders on board Celebrity Reflection not only justified and supported the entertainer. They blamed me for seating up front! Actually 3rd row.
Be aware that for this Celebrity crew, being insulted, humiliated and discriminated is OK, all part of what they call "lighthearted comedy". I fail to see the comedy in being called an idiot, and being discriminated by an employee of the cruise line. Do you?
We had a good 12-days cruise. We thought we had paid for 16 days. Vacation ruined by Celebrity Reflection incompetent hotel Director and Celebrity'so awful customer service. Beware! Celebrity thinks that insulting passengers is ok.

Ship tip
Don't expect guest relations to be of much help. Their first response to any problem is "we can't help you". Perhaps it was just this crew, as in other cruises response was much better and friendlier.

You are right cece1951. I am usually a very tolerant person. But being called stupid and idiot crosses a line. Having confidential passenger information, to which the comedian was not privy, disclosed on this site crosses a major line. A simple and sincere apology would have worked. Instead Celebrity and now the comedian circle the wagons and call on their loyalist troop (or employees, for all I know) to do some character assassination on anyone who complains. So obvious and so futile. Unbecoming of the cruise line.

Gareth, you are a bully, a poor comedian that needs to offend someone in the audience to appear "funny". You hold the stage, the microphone, 30 years younger, and your professional wits to insult from the safety of your act. I can only finger my opinion.
I was not late because I wanted to be late. I was physically ill. I did not waltz down the aisle, I did not stand in the aisle, I was dizzy and was afraid of falling. I sat next to my wife and friends. I had to leave the theater again because I felt like puking. It is not all about you, Gareth. You insult people (you left out the part when you called me stupid, then an idiot). I don't know if you are a decent human being or not. I know I am. I was just trying to enjoy the show. I don't enjoy being called stupid. None of the other comedians on board, on this cruise or any of the previous cruises, even called a guest "stupid". Is that always part of your act, or did you make an exception? Calling people stupid and idiot is not funny, Gareth, not to those at the receiving end of your "fun".
Perhaps you are a decent human being. But decent human beings don't pick on people with a physical and mental disability. Decent people don't discriminate against their guests. Decent people don't disclose private conversations between a guest and the HD, to which you were not privy.
You Gareth, might be a decent human being, although your view of decency might also be as distorted as your view of lighthearted humor. In your view you can call people stupid and idiot, and that is tolerated by the Celebrity Cruise Line. But calling you out with a finger flip for being an insensitive, bigoted bully is a capital offense? What a distorted view of the world! The Cruise Line has your back, you say? I say the Cruise Line is a necessary accomplice in creating a hostile environment to people with physical and mental needs other than your own.
What about your sincere apology, Gareth? Was that another lie from the Cruise Director?
You should add that I did not ask for compensation simply because I was out for money. No sir, not at all, totally false, another lie. I wanted a sincere apology and a clear statement from the Cruise Line that there are no excuses for calling a guest stupid or idiot from the stage, that Celebrity Cruises does not tolerate nor abet this type of behavior. They could not do that, they danced around offering non-apology apologies, and blaming me for sitting in the first row (I didn't, by the way). Since $ is the only language the Hotel Director seem to understand, I did say "compensation". It could have been a simple gesture of acknowledging that I have a right, as passenger, to not being insulted by a comedian. That was too much to ask from Celebrity Cruise Lines. Now you confirm that I was right, they prioritize the comedians over their guests. I will refer to your candid comments on the next letter to Celebrity.
At least now you know that insulting your audience and discriminating against people in your audience for any reason has consequences. When you grow up you will understand.
Enjoy the rest of your career.

Hi everyone, I have just come across this scathing review, and as I am the entertainer in question, I feel that I should take this opportunity to clear things up, as the complainant is not being entirely truthful. I, like many comedians, pride myself on my ability (desire) to constantly adapt to to my surroundings. I really enjoy the first 10 minutes of a show, as it gives me a chance to set my stall out, to get to know my audience and to refer back to them at various stages throughout the show. Most people enjoy having the spotlight shone on them and as such, I have gone on to maintain friendships with many of the people I've brought into the show. On this particular occasion, the complainant waltzed down to the third row around 5 minutes into the show, and just stood in the aisle. I asked him if I could get him a sat nav GPS system. The audience chuckled. He sat down. I moved on. Literally, 3 or 4 minutes later, I saw a gentleman get up from his seat to leave. I shouted "Excuse me. Hello. Where are you going?" I then realised it was him. "Hang on... is that the same guy that just came in 3 minutes ago?" "Yes!" Replied some of the audience! "WOW!" I retorted. What happened next came as a real shock to everyone. The gentleman turned around and flipped me off (stuck his middle finger up at me), then turned back around and marched out. The whole audience (certainly the ones in the stalls, who witnessed it) booed him as he left. I then said to the audience " Don't worry about it guys. It's the law of averages; when you have a thousand people, there's bound to be one idiot. Let's move on!" And we did. The next morning, Julie, the fantastic guest relations manager I fired me that the gentleman had been going crazy, writing to head office, on social media... He'd demanded to see the Hotel Director, who was busy at that time. When he was informed that the HD was busy, he accused him of not wanting to meet with him because he was a "chicken" and a "coward", something the HD is not, as the complainant was to find out. When the HD was free to meet with the complainant, who stated that his holiday was ruined due to being called an idiot, the HD asked him why he felt it ok, under the circumstances, to call him a coward and a chicken? The HD explained that when you sit near the front in a comedy show, you should expect to become involved, especially if you walk in late and sit near the front. He asked what outcome the complainant was hoping to achieve? "Compensation!" was the one word answer. He was politely told that his hopes were not to come to fruition on this occasion, based on the fact that the HD had a record of complaints against the gentleman from all of his previous cruises with Celebrity. On this occasion, the GRM and HD were absolutely brilliant and I feel that having had 2 great shows, it is good to know that the company you work for has got your back and will not bow down to threats. It's also worth pointing out that Celebrity cruises have a zero tolerance guest conduct policy, and should I have wished to make a complaint about the gentleman, flipping me off, his cruise would have lasted just 12 days, as he would have been disembarked at the next port of call. I chose not to take that route, because I am a decent human being who is just trying to make an honest living, making people laugh. Long may that continue. (Sorry if I go on. You should see me onstage; I can't get off!)
