Worst Cruise that we have ever taken

Sail Date: April 15, 2016

Reviewed: 1 year ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

we didn't know that the ship was going into dry dock when we reached vancouver so it was a surprise to us after boarding. The food in the dining room was below average at the best; I didn't recognize the prime rib as it should be as it looked like and tasted like cardboard. The entertainment got better  on the sea days but lacked variety.

Ship really needed the retrofit as it appeared old and broken. Cabin crew was excellent though and tried to make our cruise better than it was. they couldn't deal with the lack of air conditioning/heat in the cabin and it took several days to get it fixed. Many other passengers just had to suffer through.

This was our 16th cruise, first on Celebrity and probably our last. Time to go back to the proven cruise lines that we have enjoyed in the past.

Cabin / Stateroom
cabin stewards were excellent. The cabin was cleaned well everyday and they were there to meet all our needs with the limited resources at their disposal.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
shore staff was excellent at both ends of the cruise. If it wasn't for the shore staff at the Vancouver end we would have had to take the wheelchair off ourselves as the ship didn't provide the staff to assist. My mother-in-law had to leave her scooter in our room and use her walker to get from the cabin to deck 4 midship before a wheelchair was provided. tried to make arrangements with guest services prior to demarkation but they told me that we had to do it ourselves.
Ship Quality
the ship was in desperate need of the retrofit. Water backing up in our cabin bathroom from another deck and couldn't be fixed. rust everywhere including in the cabin. worn beds.
Destinations and Excursions
rained out at the dinner on maui and the excursion staff did not make arrangements to take us back to the ship instead of making us sit through a show in the rain. the dinner was floating by the time that it was available.
Onboard Activities
not a lot happening on the ship.
Children's Programs
didn't see many children on the ship and cannot comment not he available programs
it started off good and got worse until the sea days. Some entertainers were excellent; others not so good and we always like our entertainment.
Service and Staff
our cabin stewards were excellent. the Guest services and Excursion staff should take lessons from them in dealing with passengers and solving issues.
Food and Dining

Try as other ship as we were told by many past Celebrity guests. They said that they would be trying other cruise lines after this experience.
