Review summary

The service and little extras made for a special trip: robes in our room, placemats on the buffet trays, wait persons in the buffet ready to carry your tray, thoughtful waiters who remembered your favorites each night (my decaf was ready when I arrived at the dining table).

Entertainment

1 out of 5
This is one area in which they were lacking. The quality of the evening shows was mediocre. During the day the activiities were mostly trivia type games. The did have a wonderful naturalist on board who did provide two presentations. We would have liked to hear more from here. Also lacking were group sport/athletic activities. We missed the group morning and evening walks, aerobics, etc. They did offer a 7:00 am Yoga and a pilates - both were extra costs.

Ports of call

Victoria, British Columbia

Another volkswalk from the YMCA about 1.5 miles from the port. We have been to Victoria many times and always enjoy it. A new site this time was the Craigdarroch Castle - beautiful solid oak wall panels and an interesting history.

Nanaimo, British Columbia

We did volkswalks in each city. We were able to see alot of sites this way. Visit www.AVA.org for the location of the maps. (Nanaimo = Howard Johnson, about 1/2 mile from the port, has the volkswalk maps). These are 10k walks. They also had a 5 k walk that did only the waterfront.

Pros: Excellent service, relaxing
