Review summary
This was a very short cruise, three nights from San Francisco to Vancouver. We booked a suite with full amenities to celebrate a birthday. The room was fine in terms of size, but carpets and bed coverings were extremely dirty. (Linens under bedspread were fine.) The Infinity is a very attractive ship, but the food is among the poorest we have seen, both room service and main dining. The premium restaurant, SS United States, is spectacular in every way, but requires a $30 additional fee per diner, plus a $27 additional fee if you select the prix fixe menu. Given the food in other areas, well worth it and a remarkable dining experience. Oddly, the crew was very mixed. We supposedly had a "butler" but he was essentially a cabin steward and not terribly cooperative. Many of staff on board are non American, the very large majority of them. While polite, a number were hard to understand and didn't appear particularly helpful. For example, I ordered flowers and wine to be on board when we arrived. They were not and I was transferred to a number of people to work it out, none of whom could or would help. We tried to arrange taxi service in two different areas and were basically told we could try to flag one down at the wharf. We had a billing error and were told to take it up with the card company once the statement arrived. The wines available are so limited as to be almost funny, essentially two Chardonnays. One of them, La Crema, was offered at a very large markup and only two times could our waiter find any. The other wine was a private label Celebrity and not even close to worth the price. The half bottle in our room had spoiled and when we requested another, that bottle was so spoiled that the wine was virtually dark brown, shocking us and the steward. The room didn't have a corkscrew and the server neglected to bring one twice, despite our reminder. Really amateur hour, quite frankly. Things of this nature were a real surprise to us and disappointing. Again, the ship is only five years old, so attractive and well laid out. All things considered, I doubt we sail with Celebrity again.Ship experiences
