Very nice for the conservative, high end cruiser who is not afraid of gratuities. It seemed a gratuity of 18% was added to so many purchases, excessive. Concierge class is the only way to go, just be prepared for higher per night gratuities added to your folio. It was worth it to me, but some improvements can be made in the food department.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very easy and quick for concierge class guests.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Disappointed in quality of the specialty restaurant Tuscan Grille. It was very average as were many dessert at the Oceanview Cafe. The BEST food came from room service and I think we had special additions to our room service menu due to being in the concierge class.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Special activities such as hot glass blowing ($$) and the silent disco set this ship apart. There wasn't a lot of raucous behavior, but the activities were very engaging and enjoyable.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Elysium was the best show since there was a story line of sorts, but there were 3 nights of comedians which I could have done without and the other two shows covered a random assortment of popular songs. I am more used to the full productions put on by Carnival and that comedy is a separate activity altogether.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward, Putu was awesome. The bar staff that taught my husband mixology was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tables at Ocean view cafe were cleared in a timely manner.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I can't say enough about the aesthetic of this ship. I am still trying to add photos but the app is not uploading them. This ship has major class and ambience and I think this is the focus more than the food and entertainment.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The balcony was EVERYTHING! I don't think I can ever go back to interior cabins. The shower having doors was amazing and it was kept spotless by my room steward.
Ship tip
Don't get the Persian Garden pass, it's not worth the money. Only spas with thalassotherapy pools are worth the weekly fee in my opinion. Concierge class is the best way to go if you can afford it since room service was pretty much flawless and the special activities were cool too.
We took a last minute taxi tour with Angela for $25 which was great. Rum factory, Hell, saw dolphins, and paid $11 extra to see sea turtles because I just HAD TO, Lol. The stops were a little too quick and we got dropped off at Royal Palms Beach Club at our request but their a la carte items were pricey. Chairs, $15, umbrellas a separate price. Jet ski for 2, $100 for 30 minutes! Cayman seemed more pricey than Mexico overall due to their lack of ability manufacture anything on the island.
We purchased a beach break through shore excursions group and were pleased with the quality of the included drinks. They kept the sea grass at bay with netting but it limited the wading area. They did their best. You will be approached 20+times by vendors trying to make a living. Just say no, thanks, and they move on.
Again, concierge class has it privileges. We had a special waiting area with refreshments. Disembarked easily and got a quick selfie with Captain Kate on the way off which has NEVER happened on any of my other 7 voyages on other cruise lines.
We just got off the equinox and have been on her many times.not sure what lines you have cruised but they all add gratuities to certain things..they explain all this in the paper work you receive.as far as the food goes we atte in the speciality restaurants and in luminae and the food was excellent.your comment that concierge class is the only way to go_____ wrong suite class is the only way to go and I quote you. If you can afford it
Outstanding review. We are looking forward to our voyage next week. I also understand your frustration with uploading photos - we cruised carnival a month ago and had many issues posting photos after.
I'm all in on the equinox. We always book aqua class. You pay for what you want out of life. You can't nickel and dime if you want it. The equinox is it fir me!!!
