Celebrity failed to live up to their excellent reputation and our past experiences on over a dozen cruises with them. They still have the bones of a great cruise line, however, they need to get back to basics and stop relying so much on marketing to fill their ships, but rather the great experiences that they have been known for.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Disorganized and chaotic
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We were upgraded to a Suite and the Luminare food and service was Outstanding. We had 3 specialty dinning restaurants, however the Luminare was much better
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The fitness center and Pools were nice and not crowded
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment was mostly excellent with a few less so ... was very appreciative of the two matinees during the long 6 day at sea stretch
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
This was just the second cruise for this ship post COVID. When we booked it was supposed to be the 6th. As a result there was a lot of inexperienced staff and service suffered. Compounding this was the protective quarantining of some of the staff reducing the level of service we had paid for.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
This ship is looking a bit long in the tooth and in need of a major update. Very disappointed in the level of sanitation at the beginning of the cruise that was eventually significantly increased as the COVID outbreak became more widespread. We do wonder had they practiced the same sanitation protocol that was evident toward the end of the cruise at the beginning, would the COVID outbreak been as bad?
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We were upgraded to Cabin 2119, a sky suite that was nice and roomy, however, the bed mattress was not close to being as comfy as the sky suite on the Edge. Also the countertops were stained and in need of major cleaning.
Ship tip
Frankly I would recommend avoiding this ship until it receives a major update and through cleaning after the COVID outbreak we endured.
Unfortunately this port of call was cut short, from 2 days to 1 day which was a huge disappointment, especially because it was entirely avoidable had Celebrity properly maintained this ship during the COVID out of service period. The ship excursions were lacking quality and choice so we did private excursions (which we normally never do) that were excellent.
Good port, but we would rather have had the day on Maui. Did a ship based excursion that was nice, however, it lacked the quality of similar tours by non-ship providers that we observed ... better vans with more room and amenities
Good port, but we would rather have had the day on Maui. Did a ship based excursion that was nice, however, it lacked the quality of similar tours by non-ship providers that we observed ... although our tour guide was Exceptional
Slowed down due to issues with the ramp to the ship and luggage handling. Celebrity blamed it on the port folks, but our ship was the third ship to dock and it appeared that was more the reason than any other
We were on board the Celebrity June 19-26. Four of my travel companions contracted Covid! Proper health and safety measures were no followed. Very disappointing.
