Review summary

Very disappointing treatment of someone sustaining a serious injury on the ship due to their negligence. Poor medical treatment. Poor follow up from Guest relations until I conveyed my concerns to them that I felt dismissed. My holiday was ruined for myself and my partner and ship's response was more 'out of sight, out of mind'. The ship is beautiful, restaurants are good. Packages are worthwhile. General treatment of anyone injured in my experience disgusting, of course this has negatively influenced my entire experience which for me was very sad. I now look forward to surgery to repair my hand having returned home. Shame on Celebrity also for not advising passengers when they have a concierge class cabin in the corridor under the cafe that there is noise and obstructed views from the balcony.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Lengthy queues in a hot large terminal, no clear instructions.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Generally all were very good.

Tuscan Grille

5 out of 5

Great location and food, service impeccable. Atmosphere authentic and cosy.

Sunset Bar

4 out of 5

Nice location just a little small as it's popular. Could do with offer some simple food there?

Oceanview Café and Bar

3 out of 5

Usual hustle and bustle expected and found. Good food though, just felt like sitting in a motorway service station cafe.

Murano Restaurant

3 out of 5

Good but disappointing no vegetarian options, very surprising for a restaurant in modern day, especially of this nature on the ship?? I wasn't given an option of an alternative but they did find 2 alternatives from other restaurants for me which were both good.

Main Restaurant

4 out of 5

Consistently excellent. Queues could be frustrating sometimes.

Champagne Bar / Martini Bar

4 out of 5

Great fun, wonderful decor.

Cellar Masters

4 out of 5

Beautiful environment totally underused and under publicised with events.

Cafe al Bacio and Gelateria

4 out of 5

Excellent service and choices.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Fitness centre, spa and salon were all good. We visited and observed other activities e.g. Tango lessons and line dancing, all looked fun and were engaging.

Guest Relations And Excursions

1 out of 5

Support following a fall was non existent until I initiated it and assistant front desk manager was good, but basically 'tea and sympathy' wasn't enough under the circumstances. Her colleagues were very poor in their understanding delivery of good customer service.

Fitness Center

4 out of 5

Good size and variety of equipment.

Shops on the Boulevard

4 out of 5

Good variety including changing pop up shop.

Jogging Track

1 out of 5

Where was it? One track but you cannot jog all the way around?

Celebrity iLounge

4 out of 5

Good size and support.

AquaSpa by Elemis

4 out of 5

Had a facial and massage both excellent.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Theatre shows were ok but singers weren't very strong and performances generally the same. Theatre smaller than I expected.

Sky Observation Lounge

4 out of 5

Great destination for a drink, views and some activities e.g. quizzes.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Room stewards and waiters excellent. Officers generally don't greet you and some team members don't acknowledge you which i found unusual having cruised with other providers whose staff always greet you. Guest relations team were dreadful apart from one person, Assistant front desk manager who was very empathetic and sympathetic but limited in her influence when things go wrong. Concierge class cabin concierge was very ineffective. A definite hierarchy on the ship which I was advised of by the concierge, perhaps that's why officers don;t greet you??

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Generally good, our first cabin was a little dirty behind the sofa noticeable hairs visibly protruding. Second cabin better.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We were initially in cabin 1247 as we were concierge class. However what we were not advised of is that these cabins are directly underneath the main buffet cafeteria and consequently incredibly noisy. In addition the huge overhang from the deck above obscured our balcnoy view and the paint was peeling all over the balcony, poor maintenance. The guest relations team did successfully locate a far better location and cabin for us which we were grateful for.

Ship tip

Don't go for cabins on deck 12, generally they are more likely to be noisy.

Ports of call

Buenos Aires, Argentina

4 out of 5

Santos (Sao Paulo), Brazil

2 out of 5
Nothing to see here of much interest.

Buzios, Brazil

4 out of 5
Beautiful port town.

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

5 out of 5
We did a small group day excursion organised by the ship. It was excellent and Rio is amazing, good to have 2 days in port.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Considering I fell on the ship as there was no visible wet floor sign beside the solarium jacuzzi which was very wet and consequently frcatured my finger in 5 places, also sustained a large haematoma on my gluteal area, I would have hoped they would have provided me with some assistance disembarking (5 bags and only one hand able to function). When I hinted at this, I was given $50 credit towards a taxi to our hotel.
