The best EVER!!!!!!!!!! by Cecelial3824923

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe

This was our second cruise with Celebrity - it was certainly the best. The service, the food, the staff, the tours - The Constellation is certainly a beautiful ship, the shopping, the spa - which both my husband and I enjoyed very much - not to mentioned the casino, my husband won one of the blackjack competition and of course, the entertainment!!

Transatlantic Crossing by CynthiaH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Transatlantic

This was my 2nd sailing on the Contellation. In July 2006, I took my Mom on a Norwegian Fjords cruise on the Constellation, visiting Dover, Cork, Dublin, Le Havre, 3 stops through Norway, then Copenhagen. We loved the ship and the ports so much, that when it came time to book another cruise (I book a trip every year with my Mom as a Christmas present), I wanted to go back on the Constellation. Last time we had a Concierge level room, which was wonderful. But I went for the extra splurge this time and got a Royal Suite. It was such a treat to have a really large cabin. Our on-board experience was fantastic, but I cannot say that about the booking experience with Celebrity for the hotel and air arrangements. It was a nightmare. I live in the San Francisco Bay area, so wanted to have a couple nights in Ft. Lauderdale prior to boarding the ship. Good thing too, as there was a major storm on the Eastern seaboard during this time. The hotel I chose is the Sheraton Yankee Clipper, which is on the beach. It was rather ordinary, but I was just looking for a place to rest after a day of flights. Unfortunately it took 4 corrections to get my reservation right. Every time Celebrity would email me a confirmation for the hotel arrangements, they got the dates wrong or the pricing incorrect. They also made mistakes in the air line booking for both me and my Mom. They changed our seats after confirmation and had the audacity to de-book an upgrade I made with American directly. I received a voicemail 2 months after booking, informing me I could not change my own seats until Celebrity gave me permission. It took of nine hours of phone calls and emails to get everything correct. One call I made to voice my displeasure about the process, and how these mistakes never happened on other cruiselines in my experience (Norwegian, Princess), the agent told me that I had just been lucky in the past. Eventually, I talked to a customer service rep who offered me a $200 credit to my cabin charges. That to me, was just minimal given the effort I had to make. I could have made all these arrangements myself online or with the hotel and airline directly in less than 30 minutes. Next time, I will not book air and hotel through Celebrity. But all was perfectly well as soon as we checked into the hotel. The transfer from the hotel to the ship was uneventful, which is great. The port was just 15 minutes from the hotel. Embarkation was really easy as usual with Celebrity. We didnt have to handle our luggage from the transfer, so no dealing with longshoremen. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and made our way to our cabin. The suite was a surprise to my Mom. I had told her we were in a Concierge room. We had a laptop and a CD player in the room, which I used a lot. We had the pillow menu, so we get some extra pillows. Our butler and steward were wonderful. We didnt call on them for too much extra When they would see us heading down the hall toward our room, they would rush to open the door for us. It was really nice having the suite on the days at sea (7); we could leisurely get ready, and half the time we ordered breakfast in the cabin. There was a lot to do on the sea days, but we stuck to the same activities most of the time. It was too cold/windy to sit out by the pool much, but there were some people braving it, covered in blankets. Also popular was the spa area with the thallasotherapy (sp?) pool. A few days out to sea were a little rocky and the pools were closed, but the indoor hot tubs were open. We watched the band, Intenz every afternoon. There were dance lessons, and a good contingent of line dancers (my Mom being one). We also played trivia every day. I hit the spa/hair salon a few times. We also played in the casino, and amazingly won money on the slots.

Didn't Measure Up by DonF3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

We were quite disappointed in that we had sailed on the Constellation 18 months ago in the Baltics and had a wonderful experience. They seem to short change their Carribean guests. The dining experinece was not up to expectation and activities during sea days were not to my taste. The port talks were lacking in specifics for those who wish to see sites. And I felt that the excursion were a little pricey. I doubt I would travel to the Carribean on Celeberity again but I would take a chance on another European Cruise

Great Cruise by LyndaS3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is in nice condition although starting to show some worn areas. The staff is very attentive and always cleaning! The shows were wonderful and the food was good. Not as outstanding as the food once was on celebrity however the lobster was great on our last formal night. The spa and fitness areas were very nice and we were on the ship for 13 nights and never were bored. We did have dinner at the special resturant onboard. The service was outstanding but I didn't think the food was much better than what was served in the dining room. The room is beautiful though. The ship is quite modern looking. The smoking areas were everywhere and if you are sensitive to smoke you just could not seem to avoid it. The service was outstanding and they really went the extra mile for you in everything they do. This was my 4th celebrity cruise and I have always sailed on newer ships so it was different sailing on a ship that was not brand new. The dress code was enforced to a degree, which was a welcome relief especially on formal nights. I would sail with them again, but wish they would be harder on the smoking all over the ship.

What Happened to Exceeding Expectations? by Kathiee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have sailed 31 cruises and the last time on Celebrity was 2000. We have noticed a marked decline in the food quality and selection since our last cruise with them. It is still a good value but certainly not what it used to be. We had Pork roast at least 3 nights on a 10 day cruise plus in the buffet area at least twice. Embarkation was terrible. A virtual free for all. Suppose to be going by numbers but they could not and did not control the people jumping ahead in line. Also they need to control the people saving deck chairs like they say they will. We had a very rude person EVERY day put tee shirts on the back of the same deck chairs then they would go off the ship into ports and no one else could use those chairs. The pool people are suppose to remove any items left over 1/2 hour but did not. One port excursion in St. Kitts, the train ride, was worth about $20 per person and we paid $100 per person. It is great if you like to see one sugar cane field after another.

A good cruise by DelvenaA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Constellation was a nice ship. We sailed concierge class and would not do it again. It was nice to try, but we felt for the extra cost it was not worth it. The service, food and entertainment were outstanding. The main disappointment was the age demographics. Most people were in their seventies and up which is okay, but it proved to be a very tame cruise. One thing we really didn't like was the fact that they had too many 7pm shows for the late night dining. In our experience of nine cruises, the reason for late dining is so that you have time to come back from your excursions, relax and have time to get ready for the evening. After dining its nice to attend the shows and digest your food, before dancing etc. I think because of the age on the ship, they catered to the early seating. The things I like about Celebrity line is the service, food and the fact that people still dress up for dining.

fabulous cruise by MaryL21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

We sailed on the Constellation for the 11night ultimate carribean cruise. What a fantastic time we had. The ship was amazing. Had sailed once before on Carnival. This one exceeded all our expectations. Service, food ,facilities were all top notch. One flaw that we found was that there was not enough happening poolside during the days at sea. From DJ music to interactive games, things seemed a little subdued on deck. However, we especially enjoyed the dance lessons given by Dawn. The masquerade party on Deck 11 was great. One of our favourite spots was the aft area of deck 10. The cruise is geared to the 40 plus crowd & the music is also suited to the baby boomers. The Mozart duo played beautiful melodies. Thje poolside party (fruit buffet) on deck 10 was thoroughly enjoyable - wish there had been at least one more poolside evening dance.. The ice sculptures were amazing & what a spread for the midnight buffet.! Disappointed that we had to pay to use the steam room. Found the gym facilities a little disappointing too. Artwork & decor throughout the ship was very tastefully done. Loved the Conservatory - really a peaceful hideaway. Embarkation & disembarkation was a breeze - no line ups. Will definitely sail celebrity again. Ports of call on this cruise(Grand Cayman, Aruba, Colon, Limon & Cozumel) were all exotic .

New Year's Cruise Outstanding! by JudyD2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Constellation 10 day cruise was outstanding. We enjoyed our 5 ports and we were able to walk right off of the ship instead of taking a tender. We always enjoy St Martin and St Thomas and we see St Kitts as another port that we will like. The ship staff was very personable and very helpful. We were treated by all of the staff like royalty even though we had an inside cabin. Our embarkation and disembarkation was quick and smooth especially when compared to other cruise lines. We will continue to be loyal to Celebrity because we appreciate the value we get for the cost of the cruise.

The Perfect Vacation by JeriG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

From the time we stepped onto the ship, we felt like we were in heaven. The ship from the beautiful concierge class stateroom we had to the beautiful dining room, the elegant spa and gym, the wonderful pools, the execellent buffets, and a crew that couldn't do enough for us, everything was perfect. We had only taken one other cruise, and that was 15 years ago,on Carnival cruise line. The Constellation was so far above , everything from the class of people cruising this time, to the ship and it's crew, we could not have been happier. We will hopefully be taking many more cruises , and we will only be cruising with Celebrity Cruise Line. We could not imagine any other cruise line even coming close to what Celebrity has to offer. Thank you so much.

Fantastic Cruise! by CruiseQ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

This cruise was fantastic! We are a party of 5 - 66, 65, 47, 43, 12. One couple in our party have been on approximately 16 cruises and we've been on 8. Stateroom - While I am usually very satisfied with Celebrity cabins, this one was a bust. Several things were in need of repair, however, it seemed to just be our cabin. Shower floor tiles were loose and coming up, light flickering in bathroom, closet door off hinge, etc. Service - As always - superb service! The crew members were very friendly and helpful. Celebrity wins on service hands-down! Embarkation - As smooth as they come. We arrived at the pier, had our express passes handy, walked right in and boarded. It was that simple. Disembarkation - Very organized - excellent. Dining - Excellent! The service again was very very good and the food excellent. Bar service at dinner was also excellent and we were addressed by name automatically. I would like to see a few more choices on the menu. Seaside grill was very good with several selections. Kid's Club - Terrific program and wonderful counselors. My 12 y/o enjoyed it. She is always happy with the Celebrity kids program. Many activities, slumber parties, dinner party, family night in disco, carnival night, etc! Entertainment - Amazing! The shows were incredible - better than our last Celebrity cruise. CDS was fantastic, ariel flyers were incredible and the Celebrity Singers & Dancers were excellent. Guest entertainers were also impressive. Excursions - Only did a beach tour through the cruise line - it was good. Service at excursion desk was so-so. Spa - I've had many massages on vacation and at home. This was the best by far. Beautiful spa. Celebrity never disappoints - always first class service. If you are looking to be pampered - Celebrity is the line for you!

Good but not Great Cruise by NanA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Ship is beautiful. Housekeeping was impressive. The Emporium area had an odd mixture i.e. Art Auction, Russian dolls, high end and costume jewelry but we couldn't find a large band aid. - Bar at Edge of Earth might have been great at one time but is showing some wear (We would think it a fire hazard to have so much fabric on columns, hanging from ceiling, draping areas)

Highly recommended! by RobertoG2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This was our second cruise aboard the Celebrity Constellation. The maintenance on this ship is truly outstanding. Everything looks and smells like new. The crew and staff were very helpful at all times, particularly the cabin attendants in the Concierge level. The selection of ports of call and the time allotted for shore excursions was excellent. Food quality, however, has deteriorated since our last cruise. Sea food plates in particular. Fish plates in general and the lobster plate in particular were like rubber. Waiter was very helpful and immediately offered to bring another entree every time. Excellent spa/gym facilities aboard but be careful with the very expensive health products and pills that the staff tries to push on you. Still the best maintained and the best run cruise ship of six that I have taken.

Scandinavian Fjords June Vacation by NancyG9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We just returned from our 15 days/14nights Scandinavian Fjords cruise and the ports of calls on this cruise is one that my husband and I do recommend very highly. We booked our tours thru the ship and they were great. We even flew to Moscow which was the highlight of the trip and we highly recommend to anyone who is making this cruise. We took it on a Thursday and the Kremlin is closed to outside visitors and it was only open to Celebrity and they even let us into the Kremlin Palace which is beautiful. I'm only sorry that they don't allow pictures. Berlin was they other highlight of our trip but the train ride was very hot.

like cruising from NYC by RosanneD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Constellation / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was well laid out, in good condition, showed slight wear in some areas. Public areas convenient, cabins large enough with adequete storage space. My forst Celebrity cruise, and I had asked their travel agent average age on ship- she said 45-50- well the only way that could have been true on this sailing was if you included the crew in your calculations. This was not a terrible problem, but made for traffic jams at meals(early) and shows due to high number of wheelchairs, walkers and canes. Also caused some congestion at elevators. The nightlife was therefore pretty quiet. Even the crew acknowledeged that there was a much higher than usual number of elite status cruisers and that the age was older (many in their 90s) We still had a good time and did meet some people our own (middle) age.
