Review summary
I have been on over 20 cruises - 6 different cruise lines. This was my first time on Celebrity and based on what I had heard and read, I expected to be impressed. My fiance' had never cruised before and was nervous so we chose a 4 day cruise just in case he didn't like it. I chose Celebrity because I thought they were a supposed to be nicer. Boy was I ever disapointed. The staff was fair to nice but didn't go out of their way like I have been used to on prior cruises. Also, to my suprise most of them had a very difficult time speaking and understanding English. Obviously most of the crew speak English as a second language but I have never had such a difficult time communicating on a cruise before. It was so bad that most of the time I could not get a question answered because they couldn't understane me so I would just give up. On a positive note, the ship and the rooms were kept very clean and that is a very important factor to me. However, the bathrooms smelled of sewage and this problem was never resolved. We were without water one night because they said they had to do some pipework. So, maybe this isn't a permanent problem? The biggest issue I had with this cruise was the food. I am by no means a glutten when it comes to eating, even on a cruise ship which is known for great food 24/7. But, I do enjoy eating a nice meal when I do eat. I usually have breakfast and coffee at the buffet on the pool deck. I alter my lunch depending on what's happening that day. And I always eat my dinner in the dining room because I love to try new dishes and desserts. This ship had the blandest, most unflaverful food ever. I'll grant them that the food looked edible, and I like that they tried to prevent contamination even in the buffet line by having crew serve alot of the food as opposed to letting 2000 people handle it themselves. But, honestly the food was terrible. There was not one single thing on the ship that I liked except for the box of Cherios I ate in the morning. The coffee was good too. That is without exageration the only thing on the entire cruise that tasted the way I expected it to taste. My fiance', who is a big eater was so shocked because I have always bragged about the food on my cruises. Because of this reason alone, I may never get him on another cruise. Ok, the shows were boring and the ship was pretty quiet and relaxed. I liked that I never felt crowded anywhere and it made for a pretty relaxing trip. The casino was pretty generous and between the two of us, we brought home over $20k. The cost of the cruise seemed to be a fair deal and our room was a good size. I enjoyed the oversized balcony alot and the bed was comfy enough. If they would improve on the taste of their food and get there staff to learn a little better English I would give this cruise a very high rating. But, as it stands I wll have to give it a thumbs down and I will probably not sail on Celebrity again.Ship experiences

Pros: Even though it is an older ship, it was pretty well kept and didn't smell or look its age.
Cons: The food was not at all what I expected. I think it would be great served in my Grandmas nursing home.
