September 15-October 4, 2024 FLL & our fun B3B ~ Three cruises on Celebrity Beyond
September 14, 2024 2:30pm
FLY
Hey, what's the Rule?
Always premium economy or better!
[pro tip: Must make advance choices based on airport comfort & quality, airline seat comfort, airport has some uncrowded space not far from gate, was there air conditioning everywhere?!, etc. and take careful trip notes 📝 .]
✈️
We flew into FLL on Southwest (📝 trip note: remember to fly Delta or United next time, if at all possible), arrived at 8pm local time.
We like to fly in the night before we cruise.
Southwest
rate 🌟🌟🌟
SW was too hot, too crowded, no beverage service JAN-ATL, oversold and understaffed, just not a good flight!
FLL Hollywood Airport
rate 🌟🌟🌟🌟1/2
Great comfortable chairs in terminal. AC works great, large uncrowded baggage claim area. Long walk but good airport!
Flight TRANSFER to hotel ~
Took a taxi from the cab stand.
[pro tip: You may be approached while pulling your luggage toward the cab stand with an offer to taxi you and to help you with your luggage. Just say No Gracias and proceed to the taxi stand. These are some of the new migrant non-licensed ride hawkers that try to swipe customers from the local professional, hard-working, lawfully-operating, trained & licensed taxi divers, who are in line waiting their turn at customers, i e doing it right. If you take these guys up on their, you may get stopped by airport security, and then have to unload your luggage and still have to haul your luggage to the cab stand anyway. They get fined and trespassed. You get inconvenienced.]
Stay comfortable and safe:
We checked into Serena Aventura Hotel 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟‼️
Eat good local cuisine: Brazilian Steakhouse near hotel
Pro tip: If given a choice between cruising from Miami or Fort Lauderdale, whenever possible, sail from the latter. FLL is a better and nicer airport and the same goes for the port terminals. When you add to that the significant difference in personal safety (less crime), and vastly improved chance of getting a driver who speaks English, then you have a truly clear choice made for you. Fort Lauderdale, Florida is safer, cleaner, nicer, more hospitable, more comfortably spacious, and more travel-friendly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stats all three cruises‼️ Captain Kate, Bug the naked cat, and crew are all the very best crew, service, food, and fun on all 7 seas and certainly the best of all 7 cruise lines we have sailed since Covid ended! Celebrity is great, Beyond is just as it sounds! Book it and make beautiful memories!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
E-day was the easiest, best, most courteous & comfortable boarding we ever experienced (our 19th cruise on 5 different cruise lines). Fort Lauderdale is one of the world's best cruise ports, with air conditioning & places to sit & smiling port authority staff. Celebrity always proactively serves their guests from port to boarding, including cold water, usually offering a choice of lemon, orange or cucumber water, and often cool damp towels on hot boarding days. As always, it is the people of Celebrity, the crew and staff (who always appear happy to see you coming aboard), even the photographers, who make all the difference in excellent quality of passenger care.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We love having four main dining rooms to choose from. Not only does this increase the variety of food style choices, it reduces the dining volume of those gigantic main dining rooms on other ships.
BLU is still the best restaurant on the ship, bar none, far better than Lumine and even better than overly-ostentatious Le Voyage by Daniel B. YES, it is worth it to upgrade to Aqua class just to get to eat and be served well in BLU.

Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Well, despite our standing protest over the "infinite veranda" on Celebrity Edge class ship Aqua Class rooms, every thing else regarding room maintenance, cleanliness, and cabin steward service is outstanding and way beyond and above expectations. Gotta love Celebrity! 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"Infinite Veranda" should be renamed "No Actual Veranda-Actually just Oceanview with roll-down top-half window which can be locked by the captain at the slightest hint of waves over four feet or all day on window washing day"‼️😆😂🥹
Disembarkation
5 out of 5
Easy & convenient back-to-back cruise turnaround day.
If anyone has not cruised B2B: You will only need to pack if you are changing cabins. Even then, you leave your luggage in your room, to be moved by staff to your new cabin. Same cabin? Relax, undies stay in the drawer! B2B process is easy.
Celebrity directs you to relax in a comfortable lounge while all the other guests leave the ship. On Beyond, The Club lounge has coffee, tea, snacks, continental breakfast with pastries and croissants, etc. When it is time, we walk in a line off the ship, & into the port to sit comfortably while the passenger list clears customs/immigration, usually about five to ten minutes. They now keep your old sea pass card on exit of ship (B2B cruisers can request it be returned by day 3 of the next leg, if you collect the cards like I do, must ask at Guest Relations later that day).
- When they give you your new leg sea pass card and tell you to board, just follow the leader.
Pro Tip: Go to Cafe Al Bacio on deck 4 upon re-boarding for a lovely iced coffee or tea or frappe!
Thanks for a great, detailed review!
We are fans of Celebrity and had our first Beyond cruise to ABC Islands in June - and enjoyed every moment on board from FLL too.
