Review summary

This was our 7th cruise with Celebrity and we keep coming back because they do it so well. We are in our 60's and don't mind families or children, but there are less of them on Celebrity and it is a very relaxing vibe. There are always plenty of places to enjoy sun or shade onboard and places to meet up for drinks and entertainment. There is also no pressure to dress up formally in the evening although some people still do.

Embarkation

Celebrity makes embarkation super efficient and easy!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
This is our second Edge class ship dining. We enjoyed having 4 restaurants to choose from each evening besides the Oceanview Cafe. Our favorite is the Cypress restaurant. The Mediterranean fare is excellent. Even though it sounds like you may have an assigned dining hour, the reality is that you can choose each day when and where you want to dine. Our longest wait was under 10 minutes although we are later diners.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We choose Celebrity because we do not need a huge assortment of activities but prefer to relax by the pool or in the solarium when it rained. In the past, we have utilized the fitness center but did not this time.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Celebrity always provides a nice mix of entertainment with musical shows, comedians, game shows, DJs and more intimate acoustic performers.

Children's Programs

We did not have children with us so did not utilize any of the children's programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Celebrity staff are always friendly, enthusiastic and willing to help you with any request.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We have sailed on the Edge and Ascent and love the midsize ship where it is easy to find everything and get from one end of the ship to another without congestion.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We were prepared to not like the infinity balcony but actually really enjoyed it! The room seemed larger and we usually had the window open when we were in the room except for sleeping. Our room had a great unobstructed view and on the odd side we faced all of the ports which gave us great views! The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because our room and many others had a lot of creaky/rubbing sounds that kept me awake. They did send maintenance which helped for about a day but then the noises started again. I think it may have something to do with it being such a new ship? We did receive a gift certificate compensation for our trouble but would want to make sure they resolved the issue before booking the Ascent again.

Ship tip

Ask if they have resolved the issue of the creaking in the rooms.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

We only stayed overnight in Ft. Lauderdale and have visited there before. We appreciate that the port is so close to the airport.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
We had been to San Juan before so we just walked around the fort down by the ocean and had cocktails in old town and down by the pier. We were not here long enough to really do anything more.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

5 out of 5
We booked the zip lining excursion with the ship and had a great time. I felt more safe zip lining than riding in the somewhat rickety bus on the way to the top of the island. In the afternoon we took a taxi to one of the nice beaches and rented chairs/umbrella for a relaxing afternoon.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
In St. Kitts we did a snorkeling excursion which is one of the best we have ever done. They took us to two locations that were sheltered and calm and we saw so many colorful fish and the most amazing coral. We were supposed to be let off at a beach but the weather started to look like rain coming, so ended up going back to the ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had an early flight home (10:18 AM) so we did the walk off and got in line about 7:15 AM. We were off the ship in less than half and hour and to the airport and through security by 8:30 AM.
