The port stops were great, the ship experience not so much.

Review summary

The cruise had it's positives and negatives, unfortunately more negatives for this specific cruise. We still suggest Carnival just out of a different port and a different cruise ship.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food select and quality for Carnival seems to have gone down. The sushi restaurant and the pizzeria (specifically the teriyaki pizza you can pay $6 for) were amazing.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Only used the Sports square, it was very busy.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Musicians and DJs were great

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Dining staff were not friendly, but the sushi staff were great. Room stewards were nice but the rooms were not cleaned well. Photographers and bartenders we nice.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The layout and flow of room could have been better.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was not cleaned properly.

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

4 out of 5
It was windy the day of this port, so we got off the ship later than expected. The transfer boat was very rocky. At the port coming back, the staff wasn't really helpful and was just herding us on and off the boat. Excursion isn't needed, but you do want to rent an umbrella.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
If you go to the less populated part of the island away from Margaritaville there are less people. The access to the water is rocky, but less crowded. Also a perfect place to proposal is near the whale statue on the hill.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
We walked out of the cruise port area and got a taxi tour. It was $142 for two of us and we went to the country side, rum factory (paid separately but it was maybe $10), Fortaleza de San Felipe for pictures, and Puerto Plata to pink street/umbrella street/church/and lunch. We could have also gone to the chocolate factory or toured the Fortaleza de San Felipe museum but chose not too. Great "excursion".

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was very quick.
