Review summary

I regret going and will not sail with Carnival again. My real rating for the outing is 1 star out of 5. Staff was friendly and tried. Cheap food and very expensive drinks which they charged you 18% to hand to you was horrible.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Paid a lot of money to eat low grade food, struggle to find an open chair or event that you did not have to pay for. Slow and very expensive internet. 3 inaccurate charges including 2 that tipped people over $100 that I did not agree to. They canceled one of my excursions and I did not find out till it was to late and lost one of the three days of the seven. My wife and I both good food poisoning on different days.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Tasted like reheated frozen food.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Many inaccurate descriptions, the few events I tried going to were crazy over crowded or did not exist. Only had a few old movies and horrible TV selections of like 6 channels, none of which I wanted to watch.

Entertainment

1 out of 5

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
They did their best with what they had.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
A lot of dust, nothing special, everything you needed for basics except a vent in the bathroom.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Been on VISTA at least 6 times...not everything was perfect every time, but nothing like you describe..and yes they've been cruising slower for the past few months. ...I read your review carefully...there's something radically wrong with your so-called reactions and impressions. causes me to wonder if you actually made the trip. doesn't matter...

Don’t know what cruise you were on, I was on the January 7th sailing. No up charges for events except BINGO and Deal and No Deal. Yes it cost for specialty dining. I suppose you could say it cost for Build a Bear, but that seems obvious. Sorry, but I agree “cruising may not be for you”.

Omg. Just got of the Vista this morning. Have been on several carnival ships. First time on Vista. Food, music, entertainment, service, etc..all wonderful. Very enjoyable and fun trip. Met a lot of very friendly people.

Most cruises will be what you make of them

Interesting?

You were disappointed sailing 7 January but reviewed Cozumel where Vista will not arrive until 12 January... Hmm, methinks something is amiss

So glad to see Carnival is still honoring their Vacation Guarantee (though the option is mo longer published at the website), and allowed you to disembark early at Falmouth, Jamaica allowing you to end early your disappointing cruise at the ship's first port of call and write this review. Hopefully the follow up from the customer care unit will rectify the short comings you outline to exercise this option will bear fruit for future cruisers.

Oops sorry 😞 thanks

Sail date Jan 7, review date Jan 10. Did the Vista start doing 3 day cruises? I wasn’t aware of that.

I always recommend sailing on a newer ship if you're new to cruising.

Sorry about your experience try again

I'm so sorry you had a horrible 1st experience. The Vista was actually my 1st cruise and I absolutely loved it. It could have been the time of year and because of the holidays. I hope this experience doesn't deter you from trying other Carnival cruises. I will be sailing on the Celebration in May, so hopefully I don't regret this advice.🥴😊

Well….as this was your experience, research or not, I can completely understand your feelings. A vacation shouldn’t be this stressful. It’s such a shame that you did not have a good experience, as cruising can really be awesome.

Sounds like cruising, and possibly even travel, is not for you. Most people love it, but it’s not for everyone.

I would suggest cruising is not for you

Your profile shows no previous cruises. So if that is true, you should have done your research. A ship at 💯 capacity, you will have long lines and limited seating at certain events. Especially if it's a popular event, just arrive early like those who got seating did. Food well, I will give you that things have gotten worse since cruising restarted after Covid-19. If this is your first cruise, don't overreact. I sailed on the Vista last month and it was great, because I was with my family. Didn't allow anything or anybody to spoil the time I have with my kids and grandchildren. I hope you find what you're looking for. Just do your research ahead of booking any cruise line.
