Review summary

This cruise was amazing! I can’t say enough about the crew and how memorable they made my birthday cruise! From singing in restaurants, to a note and a slice of cake delivered to my room from Louis the Cruise Director. We ran into Louis on deck and he stopped to ask how we were and if we were celebrating anything. When my friend told him it was my birthday, he added that little touch with a handwritten note and cake. Totally unexpected and very appreciated!

Embarkation

Getting through checkin was fast and easy. We had to a wait a bit to board as the ship arrived late due to fog. Not uncommon this time of year.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was great! Main dinning room food arrived promptly and warm. Guys burgers, bonsai sushi, the deli, 555 steak house, Cucina del Capitano, all served great food with great service! Drinks around the ship were not weak! My favorite place for beverages this trip was the Red Frog pub. Go see Juan and ask him to make you something. Each time I visited he would make a new drink and I was never disappointed. His customer service was above and beyond expectation. The Alchemy bar also served some great drinks with a fun team of bartenders.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Shows were fun, the performance of Flick was one of my favorite main theater performances to date. Sky track is always a win! As always, there were events going on around the ship lead by an amazing fun squad! Louis, Kimbo, and Kay Kay were amazingly friendly and personable! Other members were amazing as well, but I forgot their names..

Entertainment

Again, go see Flick in the Liquid lounge, comedy in the Lime Light lounge, and participate in other events around the ship. There is always something fun to see, do, and listen to. The violinists in the atrium were amazingly talented. Each night many gathered in all decks to watch and listen.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The crew were awesome as always! Our room steward, I Putu was friendly, attentive, and kept our room clean throughout. The poor guy is 5 months in on a 7 month contract, and you could see the tired in his eyes, but his smile was always bright! Agung in the MDR was friendly, orders were always correct, and at the table quick. I can’t remember our waitresses names in the steak house but they were so friendly, and they did a great job singing happy birthday! Yvonne in the tides bar and also in the night club was very friendly and makes a pretty good drink! Juan, waiter/bartender, in the Red Frog Pub was amazing! He was one of the highlights of our cruise!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Vista is still my favorite ship. This was my third cruise on the Vista and she never disappoints. I enjoy the layout as well as the more modern look and feel compared to older vessels.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
When traveling with multiple people the deluxe ocean view is the way to go due to the extra bathroom. Otherwise I prefer a balcony. I will say, this was my first time to travel on a low deck, but we felt very little motion in the room.

Ship tip

If you are use to older Carnival ships, study the deck maps as the Vista class ships have a different layout and feel.

Ports of call

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
Belize is one of my favorite ports and one I refer to as a water port. You take a tender boat to shore then likely another boat to your excursion, depending on what you do. I prefer a water excursion when in Belize and this trip we snorkeled then swam with sharks and rays. Great excursion!

Disembarkation

No issues here. We don’t rush this process. We have learned to schedule a late disembarkation, have breakfast, then kick back and relax until it’s our time to go. If you have a passport, you’ll breeze through with a simple facial recognition check. The only slow part was waiting on the bus to take us to our lot. We waited about 15-20 minutes, not terrible.
