Review summary

Overall, the wonderful experience made us aware why people cruise often. Our friends that encouraged us to experience our first cruise, became our guides and advisers from the day we booked five months before the ship sailed until we arrived home. The ship's captain, becoming aware of the Houston highway constructing impeding travel into the terminal, withheld underway sailing to ensure all booked customers were onboard, a commendable action. I did not mind waiting to ensure everyone was onboard.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Houston highway construction was terrible for Carnival, which threw the embarkation plans out the window. However, once we were inside the building, the process was quick. Luckly, we had experienced cruisers showing us the ropes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I am going to wear out the word, "GREAT!" So, this one word applies to everything we experienced. Our dinning waiter was outstanding! He was quick with his service and gave wonderful meal recommendations, and ensured we were more than satisfied with our meals. Juanito (Johnny) made us laugh with his sense of humor in the Red Frog Pub. We only tried on specialty restaurant because we were trying everything else. However, we have scheduled three additional cruises where we will try a different specialty restaurant on each trip.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We decided to stay onboard our stop at Belize; consequently, there were very few people onboard, we had the run of the ship to enjoy! My wife and our friend enjoyed a hot tube to themselves. Next time I will try the Sky Ride.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Unfortunately, accidents cannot be avoided by the "Amor Cubano" cast. It hampered the show and following shows that forced the cast to only sing from stools. There will be other opportunities to see them.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Crew members that we came in contact with remembered our names. Our tags were not often visible to the crew, but they always called us by our names. Our room steward went out of his way to ensure we had a pleasant trip. Yesof even provided a supply of bags to dispose our wipes.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Five stars says it all. At night, I saw the crew wiping down and disinfecting rails, chairs and just about everything you could imagine people touched.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin seemed fairly clean until my wife found paper underneath the bed. Our shower drained very slow until I used my hand as a plunger. Afterwards we had no problems with it.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

If you have been there, you know the Bay.

Cozumel, Mexico

Only went to one beach restaurant. How can a Mexican restaurant not have rice and corn tortillas? Thats not so Mexican!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were at the ship's disembarkation area at 0610 and off by 0705.
