Cruising is back with a BANG! Some things are not the same as pre-COVID but, you can make the best of it with a positive attitude.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We waited our turn with some great folks who were as overjoyed as we were. I personally would have wished that those in wheelchairs would have been given first access to embark. Some of these older folks waited longer than the “elite”
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Our first dinner was at the steakhouse. Luscious! To top it all off we got a free bottle of wine.
The MDR had the wait staff from heaven! They were fabulous and the food was served a bit differently due to new CDC protocols.
The chicken was a bit dry but was still very good. While you’re there order the Mickey Mouse, lava cake with two individual scoops of ice cream.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was something for everyone. My husband loves trivia and won 6 ships on a stick! He gave them to kids and to someone who was a worthy opponent on sports trivia!
The Havana pool was the best ever! No crowds, plenty of room and two hot tubs that eased our worries away.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were the best! Plenty of all-out singing and dancing! Wow!
Musicians were superb from a violin trio to country music to a great Latin music ensemble and others in between.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
You can’t imagine the comradeship we encountered. They were so happy to see us there as well as we were so happy to see them. Any questions, needs or concerns were immediately answered or fixed. We made some friends onboard and will keep up with their lives after this cruise. Great people from all over the world!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We’ve been on the Vista before and knew all the nooks and crannies. Since this time the ship was at 60% occupancy, there were no lines, elevators were quick, and everyone was spread-out which gave us a sense of freedom we’ve never had before.
The cleanliness and upkeep was top notch!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our cabin was longer than any balcony stateroom we’ve had before as well as the actual balcony was a bit larger. The Havana Aft Staterooms are the way to go! We were spoiled on this cruise.
One warning: the whale fin smoke stack has a residue that falls from it. It’s like dirty rain. Yuck!!! We were aft and it was everywhere.
They have suffered greatly during the pandemic and had many places closed. Our excursion tour guide and bus driver were very knowledgeable on the history, architecture, and location of reputable places to go visit.
Loved the beach and the people! We took an excursion that had lift chairs , like ski chairs, and rode on them several times to take pictures of Mahogany Bay!
