Review summary

This was my first time on the Vista as I had always been on the Dream. The size of the ship is great but I missed some things from the Dream such as their 5th Deck that goes all the way around the ship. The Vista does not have this available all the time because the Havana deck is locked and private during the day. But Vista does have things Dream doesn't such as the thrill ride theater and a sky ride. The casino is basically the same as the casino on Dream. I loved the layout of the Vista's gym and spa. The staff were great and very friendly. I am going back on the Vista next month so I hope I will enjoy it more the second time around.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Was disappointed that Guy's Burgers did not carry veggie burgers like the Guy's on Dream. But the fries were still fantastic! Buffet food was just ok, but the desserts were incredible! Especially the warm desserts.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Would have given this 5 stars but the sky ride was down so I did not get to experience it. I did get to enjoy the thrill theater which was a lot of fun. I won a jackpot in the casino on our first night! Caught my first show which was a game show hosted by our cruise Director Kendall Fire and really enjoyed it. Also watched a lot more movies by the pool on this cruise as they had a great lineup.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward Mary Gray was absolutely wonderful! Had our rooms cleaned and stocked every day. Not one time did we pass her in the hallway without her smiling and greeting us by name. The rest of our housekeeping crew took their cue from her as they too smiled and greeted us anytime they saw us.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I was NOT a fan of this ship's layout. In particular the Havana deck being private. On the Dream we could walk around the entire ship on deck 5 but Vista does not give us this option. We also found secret decks on the Dream which were fun to explore. I didn't see many of them on Vista.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony room that my friends loved but I did not spend much time on because I was usually by the pool, in the casino or exploring the ship.

Ports of call

Montego Bay, Jamaica

1 out of 5
Had the worst experience in Jamaica as we had an excursion booked to Rose Hall. Not only was the port in the middle of nowhere but our excursion was terrible due to the tour guides not knowing what they were doing. We were sent to the wrong bus twice, forced to wait longer than we should have and then locked out of the bus on the way back to the port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Our cruise director Kendall Fire was there to say goodbye to everyone and she stopped us from waiting by asking if we had purchased a lot of alcohol, tobacco or jewelry. When told no she said we didn't have to wait.

Havana area no longer opens to general cruisers. It stays exclusive.
