Review summary

Made fun with friends, but the Vista was a disappointment.

Embarkation

Being a Platinum member our luggage was tagged “Priority “ but we were the last to get our luggage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Sadly main dining lacked. Steakhouse and the Asian restaurant were excellent. Guys hamburgers were awesome.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The Skyride was out of service and had been for a long time. Nobody was working on it!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were great! Must see and the comedy show was too.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
It seems to us since the gratuities were added before the cruise the dining and cabin steward are just going through the paces. Dining we had to get our own butter, water and had to ask for bread. No bar service and the lead waiter took the drink orders and were always late. Always had to ask for ice in the room. I understand the reason for pre paid gratuities, but it’s not the same.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had an aft balcony on the Deck 7. The Havana area was great, but black soot pellets covered the chairs and covered our swim wear we left out to dry. Balcony was mostly exposed to upper decks for no privacy and no shade. Basically too hot to enjoy. The Havana section opened up at 7 pm and kids (thought weren’t allowed) took over the pool and hot tub. Olivia and Tony at the Havana Bar were great!

Ship tip

This is the only ship that uses automatic shuffle machines in the casino and even the dealers complained. Also way too smoky and not enough ventilation. Made the best of everything but was really disappointed in the ship.

Ports of call

George Town, Grand Cayman

Again on our own and walked to Paradise Bar... rocky shore and strong currents

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Decided not to do an excursion and went to Doctors Cove. After chairs, umbrella, beer and food it was actually more expensive.

Galveston, Texas

Hotel Galvez rocks!

Sorry for the disappointment.

I agree about the Vista. We didn't care for it either. Had an aft, wraparound balcony and was constantly wiping off the soot from everything. The cabin was TIGHT! 2 very small closers and 1 drawer in the whole cabin. Not worth the extra money for a Havana cabin.

Most likely soot, I noticed it alot in the back areas of the ship.

I hear ya, but I do like the Vista. We go again in Jan. Some things aren’t the same.... I’m still trying to figure out some tiny black spot stains on some of my clothes from cruises. Not sure it’s from the soot on the ship, or tender in Belize. This has happened a few times on white clothes, hats; can’t get it out. 😣
