Review summary

I read previous reviews about rude staff and I NEVER encountered this! They were all courteous, friendly, respectful and helpful, even though they seemed to be overworked.

I could always find something to do on the ship on sailing days, as there is plenty going on. Musical entertainment was superb with many styles to choose from. If you want to just relax without kids running around, the Serenity deck gets crowded early. The bars located in popular areas (i.e. pool areas) were very busy and could have used more staff. The bartenders were great, tho, and worked extremely hard! Matt is a FANTASTIC Cruise Director - a LOT of fun and laughs, and people seemed to flock to his activities.

Food was plentiful and superb! I believe my only complaint is that the seated dining service always took too long. There was so much entertainment to attend in the evenings that you would miss out if you were delayed because of dinner. That being said, we only did seated dining twice. I would have liked the buffet to open earlier since I didn't care to go to seated dining. The other food options - Guy's Burgers and Barbecue, Iguana Tacos/Burritos, JiJi Asian Kitchen - were also VERY good, but with limited hours. We did not do any meals that incurred extra cost. The only other cruise I've been on was NCL, and they had what they called "Free Style" dining. I prefer NCL's meal arrangement.

One other thought about seated dining, there are 2 evenings of "Elegant" dining, which require you to dress up. In my opinion, I am on VACATION, and I am not bringing fancy dress clothes. I go someplace warm to wear shorts and flip-flops!

Service and Staff

Matt the Cruise Director was like a Pied Piper. Everyone wanted to attend his activities. Jens in the Havana bar was great. Mocha Marvin at the Java Blue Cafe was the hardest and most efficient worker I encountered. All other staff was friendly, helpful and courteous.

Ship Quality

I appreciated the many options for hand hygiene while on board! Hand washing stations are the best!

Cabin / Stateroom

This is the first time I've had a balcony. If you can afford it, DO IT!

Ship tip

Be prepared to wait during seated dining.
