Review summary

Who doesn’t have fun on a cruise even if the food is below standard? It’s a Great ship for first time cruisers but you’ll likely be disappointed for advanced cruisers. If food is a main priority, skip this ship! Find a great deal on it then go and know ahead of time what to expect. For me, I’d rather pay a little more for decent food and an updated ship

Quick and efficient. 5 stars on this one

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Lido deck buffet was horrible. The breakfast was inedible. Powedered eggs were tasteless. All food was room temperature. The bacon and sausage was dripping in grease. Fruit was available but not to the cruise standard. The pastries were hard and dried out. This was consistent all week for the Lido deck buffet for breakfast. Lines were always long at the buffet and other restaurants on the Lido deck. It took us 50 minutes to get a pizza in line. Late night the pizza was the only thing available except room service which you pay for after 10:00 p.m. The line late night went across the entire deck. People were sitting in chairs in line and moving the chairs as the line slowly moved. We gave up on pizza and paid for room service. Pizza was good but not excellent the one time we did eat it. It certainly wasnt worth standing in line for 50 minutes of our cruise. We never did try the Blue Iguana as the line was too long always. Guys Burgers-good with great topping bar but greasy. We ate in the main dining three times-twice for dinner ad once for brunch. It is by far the way to go as far as food. We had steak, lobster and salmon. All were good. Nothing spectacular and the presentation was ordinary but much better quality than the Lido buffet.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Love and marriage show was hilarious! It’s a must see. Dive in movies were a nice touch. The casino was fun too and the waitstaff was excellent. Slots were tight but to be expected as in most casinos. There was plenty to do at all times.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward was friendly and efficient. He went the extra Mile ! Customer service onboard-worthless as to complaints. Th in’s was alwYs unusually long there too. Main dining room wait staff were excellent considering the amount of tables and meals they are servicing. Hey were always friend,y and fun too.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Despite just coming out of dry dock the ship is worn and dated. Windows were filthy and hard to enjoy the water view from them in the dining room. Public bathrooms were often dirty. Stateroom was very clean and updated but the refrigerator did not work. Our room attendant was good at keeping ice for us in the room. Overall, the boat needs an overhaul. I will definitely go with a newer ship and higher cost next round.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Size was adequate with plenty of storage. It was very clean and “ I Made” (name of steward) kept it that way. We found the bedding pillows and bed itself comfortable. The balcony was good sized with two chairs and a table.

Ship tip

Purchasing the Faster to the fun pass is well worth it. Skip the Lido buffet and eat in the main dining room. Carry on soda and wine. Watch you tube videos before you go Get the fast pass and eat in the main dining room. Avoid the Lido buffet

Cozumel, Mexico

Rented a Jeep and explored on our own. We found a private spot for snorkeling close to one of the parks. It was awesome. Jeep with insurance was $92.00. Snorkeling free. We hD our own equipment

Disembarkation

Off the boat and through customs and in our car which was 4 miles away in less than an hour! Faster to the fun pass is key here!

Dansue: The main dining room was good just not what it used to be but bear in mind I haven’t cruised since 2007 until this year. Guys burgers was good too. I didn’t try the Mexican restaurant because the times it was open were limited and always long lines. I think part of our problem was it was Spring Break and the other dining options were overwhelmed. The Lido buffet was actually decent for one lunch we had. I never ate dinner there but did see a nice looking beef roast and good salads. We had room service one night and it was decent. I didn’t try any food venues that were additional charges. As to update my review, Carnival has acknowledged my dissatisfaction and given me a $50 onboard credit for our next cruise. I don’t want to worry you about your upcoming cruise. There is good food to be found just not at the Lido deck for breakfast. Our brunch in the main dining room was fantastic! It’s possible that the Lido dining buffet will get it together. The ship is a great value and all service was excellent except the guest services desk who really didn’t care about my complaint. The manager of the Lido deck did care. I’m just not sure where that went. Even though our food experience was less than stellar as far as the lines and Lido buffet and I didn’t think I would book this ship again, well think again. I just booked to take my daughters who are 19 and 21. I’m thinking the food venues won’t be under so much strain as it won’t be spring break and if the Lido deck isn’t good for breakfast then we will go to one of the other venues. Note: there are side windows to the buffet with made to order omlettes which I’m sure were good-once again the lines were the problem. Next time I’ll be more patient and know what to expect if I run into that again. Sorry this is so long. I have a lot of info I can give you anywhere from parking to casino to dining to dress code etc. feel free to ask more!

Byrdtravels3- You ar correct in that was in dry dock for a refit. The staterooms were updated for sure. It looked like the pool areas and duly jerks deck furniture may be new. As for updates in the inside public areas, definitely not.

We just cruised on the victory in Feb and loved loved loved it. But this was our first cruise so we don't have anything to compair to. We thought all the food was good.

I have been on three ships and I have not noticed any difference in the food. Same menu on each ship for the most part.

Not to knock your review (cause I appreciate it), but didn't they just update this ship? I will be cruising on it in December .

The Victory was ok, but food was sub-standard. They made up for it by having small buffets open and the deli and asian side widows were readilly available. Pizza Pirate was good too. Serenity area was very small though.
