We had a good time but very disgusted with the tips, over charges, and some rude crew members. Being our first cruise we thought gratuities were included but we were asked for tips a number of times. we were over charged in the spa. We questioned tipping and the cheers program in the bar area and the bartenders were very rude to us. We really want to cruise in October but debating Carnival. Our housekeepers were the nicest and very best crew members we dealt with. Kind of a silly complaint but we ordered a chocolate cake in our room for our Daughters Birthday and received a vanilla one. Obviously we can deal with that minimal mistake. Unfortunately disappointed.

No @khristeenaann you don’t have to tip anymore unless you feel the bar tenders or waiters deserve it. Doesn’t hurt to give them a few extra dollars if service was good. Don’t forget to tip room stewards and such if they took care of you.

No you don't have to. But some do.

@weringa, so you mean that even if you prepay gratitudies and get the cheers package which you also pay gratuity on when you buy it, that you have to pay gratuity again when you order a drink?

Mellanney    6 years ago

Agree with Weringa....we are prepaying our gratuities.

So Melmoo, there are six postings in response (not including this one). That'll be a $60 tip please! 😏🆗

Same as the above.

You can prepay your gratuity, it’s located on your cruise manager web page. But if you feel your service was good you should give them a few extra. Tips are added to your bar bill automatically but again feel free to tip extra.

I never been asked for tips ever preparing my tips or not. Are you referring to the tip option on your receipt that is an optional additional tip if you like add it otherwise you don't have to.

No staff should ever be asking for a tip on a cruise ship! If I was to be asked I would report them for having asked!

What do you mean "asked for tips"? I've never been asked for a tip on a cruise since they started auto-tipping. Now they just add them to your account without asking.

That sucks. What did they overcharge you for?
