Review summary

I won't book a cruise on Carnival Cruise lines in the future. Overall my family had a good time, but other cruise lines offer a far better experience in my opinion. The service on Carnival didn't compare to Royal Caribbean. I view Carnival as a 2nd tier cruise line.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had a suite so we were one of the first to board the ship, which was nice.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food was OK, but not up to the standards of other cruise lines. The food lines at lunch were HORRENDOUS.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
One of the pools was closed for half a day due to what I'm assuming was a sanitation issue. The water slide was nice.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The talent in the shows we watched was lacking.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
The food and drink service was OK at best, but not comparable to other cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean. The waiters in the main dining room submit any bar orders and rely upon them to deliver the drinks, which was a VERY poor experience for us. They missed delivering my drinks on multiple occasions, yet had no problem charging me for them. Our suite cabin attendant Mario was wonderful!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Not one of Carnival's newer ships, but it was nice - clean and well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was very nice. I couldn't imagine a smaller cabin for my family of 4 though.

Ship tip

Maybe Carnival is OK for a first time cruiser, but my experience with other cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean was definitely a notch above Carnival.

5 hours was too short of time to truly experience Key West.

Royal Caribbean is especially for families. Carnival is more formatted for adults.
