Might be good if I hadn't cruised on Royal Caribbean before

Review summary

Best part of cruise was the pizza station which was paired with a cold beer.  Other than being with a good friend, the cruise itself was disappointing.  Food was average, even less than average at times.  Too much fried food, dining room options were ultra small portions.  The shrimp cocktail had 5 measly shrimp, no table clothes in dining room other than on one night, small plastic cups used elsewhere on the ship for tea, juice, water - felt like I was a 5 year old.  Clientele, I describe as ghetto ship but I think you get what you pay for.  Cheap cruise is exactly that.  Boat needs a good brushing up, the main deck (3) where customer service is located and surrounding area smelled like a bathroom the entire cruise ship.  Horrible smell.  The spa was excellent - best mani/pedi I've had in years.  I've been on several cruises and did go on Carnival once before but it wasn't this bad.  Sadly, not a good recommendation for accommodations or food or other things but the service in the dining room, our housekeeping service and massage services were all excellent and we tipped them well above the nominal $13/day that is on your bill.  Next trip, Royal Caribbean.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Nothing special, expected tastier dishes and larger portions and table clothes on the dining room tables.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Love and Marriage was hysterical, the Vroom show was good, bingo was fun, spa was great.

Entertainment

shows were good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Divia - spa, super awesome mani/pedi Henry - main dining room waiter - excellent service, super friendly, cute and funny - has great dance moves :) Joaquim - great house keeping. Very attentive and sweet.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ships design / layout leaves a lot to be desired - seems cramped all the way around. Tacky décor that has no rhyme or reason.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Glad I paid for the balcony. Worth it. Overall room needs a face lift.

Ship tip

Lido deck dining is like a cattle call. Balcony worth it if in your budget. Be prepared for loud music in most public areas. Way too noisy.

been there before - hot days you do not want to be in the sun. Ruins at Tullum are scorching hot and no shade ---- and is a loooooong excursion.

ummm I would "assume" PLENTY because of the word choice.. If you're bold enough to say it (or type it), own it. It is what it is. You're too "good" for Carnival ✌

Maybe ghetto ship is not a good word choice but I would not assume anything about the person that wrote the original post becouse of that word choice. It is only one word and nothing in rest of post reflects what stwoodburn has implied.

Your review means nothing after you show your true colors with the statement of clientele and ghetto ship.

Greyhound bus cruise line. Carnival has been going downhill for years. You are correct about you get what you pay for.

Food may be off putting on RCCL as well but I hear Allure of the Seas has the best.
