I was surprised by the poor behavior of the other guest. This was my 4th cruise and im not sure if it was being in nyc that made a difference.
All in all we made the best of it. I dont think I would book with Carnival and probably not leave from nyc again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The embarkation was smooth and organized.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food in the dining area were good but some of the buffet items were really greasy. The drinking cups were worn plastic and still moist from the dishwasher.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
My daughter enjoyed the water slides, rope course, arcade, and pool. The pool were overcrowded at times. There clearly wasnt enough pool space for the guest onboard.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We went to three events lm it was entertaining but costly to participate. The family friendly events were not free.
Children's Programs
My child didnt want to participate.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
It was oddly a mix of services. Some were absolutely excellent and others were downright rude and abrasive. Our housekeeper was an older gentleman who was engaging but seem like he was struggling with the amount of rooms to clean.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
I think some of the other guest just left it a mess everywhere. Not sure it was easy to maintain cleanliness at all times. Staff were clearly present throughout the ship trying to clean up.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The view was nice but the furniture were clearly in need of updating. The carpet was raggedy and never cleaned. There were clearly food particle left from the last trip on the carpet. There were mold in the shower area. There was an annoying knocking sound when the air vents were on. Throughout the day, a toliet smell emitted into the air.
Ship tip
Bring all things you like and bring all you need like candy, liquor, water pouches and laynard. It costly on the ship.
We did the glass bottle boat and snorkeling. This was the highlight of the trip. The guides were informative and entertaining. It wasnt enough time to see everything.
We sailed on the Venezia on the 4th of July and swore never again. Way too many unruly kids since this was probably filled with promotion/graduation celebrations. If we do sail on her, it’ll be when kids are in school.
A short cruise especially when children are out of school is pretty much always horrible. Also the plastic cups in the buffet are almost always wet because they are constantly being cleaned.... Better wet and clean then dry and dirty.
A 4-day cruise leading up to a holiday weekend=booze cruise, regardless of which major market line you are on. Couple that with it being the northeast's last full week of summer vacation, and I'm sure there were plenty of unattended kids running about. For a quieter short cruise, wait till after Labor Day an avoid weeks or long weekends when school will be off.
Unfortunately rude people are ruining what should be a great vacation. It’s not just NYC but other places too. Also, short and weekend cruises seem to be worse. Seems like you made the best of it you could. Please try another cruise.
