Review summary

This was my son's first cruise and our first vacation just the two of us. We had a great time aboard ship and made some lifelong friends!! While relaxing on the beach, I looked over at my son and as he locked his hands behind his head on the beach lounger, he said, "This is the most relaxed I have ever been in my life!" That made the whole trip worth it!!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation went very smoothly, we barely had a wait at all. From parking the truck, walking to the terminal and boarding the ship may have taken 25 minutes, very smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
As always on the Valor, the food was delicious and the staff in the main dining room was great! My son loved that he could order whatever he wanted and LOVED ordering the Chocolate Melting Cake "Mickey Mouse-style" with 1 ice cream and 1 peanut butter!! Breakfast in the MDR was always great as well. We enjoyed ordering from the Seafood Shack and we both ate at the Mongolian Wok several times.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We had such a great time at the comedy show, Killer Beaz was hilarious!! While enjoying a cigar on deck one night, Beazley asked to sit with us and hung out for an hour, just chatting about life, being on TV and doing stand-up, such a great guy!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff, as always, was phenomenal! Katam, our room steward, made sure that our cruise was awesome. Never once was our ice bucket empty or melted. We made sure not to make a mess and helped Katam out by making our own beds (it's a Marine thing) The MDR staff was great and very accommodating.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Being a Veteran, I love the heroes motif of the Conquest-Class vessels, especially aboard Valor. Everywhere was clean and well-maintained. The staff was always making sure there was no trash around.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was plenty spacious for my son and me. First time in a 4J, it was a neat change.

Ship tip

You're on vacation, enjoy yourself! Yes, there are thousands of other people on vacation with you, but have a blast, meet new people and do new things.

Ports of call

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the 5-in-1 Tour through Sergio's Tours, it was so informative and fun!! Definitely book an excursion or tour and get away from the city, there really isn't much to do around the dock.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Debarking the ship went quite smoothly and very efficiently. No complaints at all.
